On July 9th of 2020 my husband and I went to this place to eat. The food was great, But I appreciated that I didn't have to wear a mask. I will come again even if the staff were maskless. UPDATE Ashland, OH – An Ohio Court late Wednesday (April 6,2021) cast doubt on the lawfulness of the state’s mask mandates, holding that the Governor and Department of Health lack authority to issue such mandates.
The decision by Judge Ronald Forsthoefel of the Ashland County Court of Common Pleas comes on behalf of 1851 Center for Constitutional Law’s client Cattlemans Restaurant in Savannah, Ohio. The Court concludes that “Plaintiffs should not be subject to any further enforcement action,” over masks due to the following:
“R.C. 3701.13 grants no authority to the Director of the Ohio Department of Health to issue or enforce mandatory mask orders since there is no stated or implied authority in R.C. 3701.13 which authorizes any action to prevent the spread of contagious or infections disease.” “The Dine Safe Ohio Order in this case fails to accomplish anything scientifically demonstrable, or otherwise corroborated with empirical data, to prevent the spread of contagious or infectious diseases even if that purpose were authorized by R.C. 3701.13.” Local health departments may not suspend restaurants’ licenses for “immediate danger to public health” arising from mask violations because such danger has not been “factually established nor scientifically demonstrated.” “The Court’s Order is further evidence that no statute permits Ohio agencies to overregulate all Ohioans over an extended period of time, and that if one did, it would violation the Ohio Constitution’s separation of powers,” explained 1851 Center Executive Director Maurice Thompson. “The decision provides a roadmap for elected officials in other counties, who ultimately maintain the power to protect their citizens from the State’s arbitrary and continuous administrative overreach, since virtually all enforcement of these orders is undertaken locally.”
The Court’s reasoning arises while addressing procedural, jurisdictional, and timing issues in a case that ultimately resulted in an injunction forbidding the county’s health department from suspending food service operations licenses in response to restaurant employees not wearing masks.
The Ashland County Health Department had suspended Cattlemans business license for mask violations in July of 2020, but the 1851 Center won a Temporary Restraining Order permitted the Restaurant to open the next week.

Read moreIt was my fiance's birthday I had called and made reservations for 12:45 for 7 people. Two of which were children. With the exception of 3 people seated at the bar and two tables that had guests. The one table the gentleman got very upset and he yelled can I at least get some bread while I am waiting? We sat at our table totally unacknowledged until 1:10. The waitress came around and took our drink orders which consisted of all Coke products except for my fiance. She ordered us a bottle of wine to toast her birthday. At 1:36 p.m. the waitress brought our drinks of Pop to us. Right off the bat she got the pop orders mixed up between diet and regular. Three of us had to send our Coke products back because knownot only was it very light caramel colored it was completely flat no fizz whatsoever. We asked about the bottle of wine that we have been waiting for since 1:10 p.m. the waitress said that she would return with it. IT NEVER ARRIVED. WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE BOTTLE OF WINE THAT WE ORDERED. We were told this after now waiting 30 minutes for the bottle of wine.. no food order was taken yet no bread to the table. We finally asked for bread it was brought out. 6 pieces for a party of 7. We are now down to two tables in the restaurant. It is now coming up being seated for 1 hour and our fresh pop was delivered. My fiance then ordered a mixed drink. After approximately a 15-minute wait I went up to the bar and discovered the drink was never made. Finally when the drink was delivered our waitress told us she was sorry because the bartender was having an issue. Mind you three people sitting at the bar and there was a male and a female bar tender. We have now been there approximately 90 minutes and no food order had been taken. We then called the waitress over and told her that our food order had not been taken yet and her response was oh????? Finally the food was delivered. I will say that my meatball sub was good. One of our guests meal was cold. It was an absolutely horrid dining experience. We asked to speak to George the owner. We were told he was not at the restaurant. A couple of hours later I called the restaurant and ask to speak to George. I was told that he was not there and maybe he would be there sometime after 6 p.m. my fiance has lived in Medina for over 30 years. She had stated many times that this was her favorite restaurant and she knows George. Our bill was $122.00, the service was extremely poor. The food was delivered cold. Our bottle of wine never showed up. The first round of Pop was delivered flat. We definitely will not be making this...
Read moreUsually five star but this time it was awful. Even though they weren't busy, they seated us at the table next to the back kitchen door and large busing station. Who wants to look at that while they're eating. The server was atrocious. We dropped over $100 on two meals and she couldn't give us the time of day. Spent plenty of time at other tables though. We usually have fantastic service, this server had the capacity of a fast food drive through server. Had to ask her twice what the special was. She never asked us if we wanted more water or another glass of wine. Treated us like an afterthought while she socialized with other tables. For instance she would bring each course before we were finished or even halfway through the last one. Then she would hold it up in the air having us move things around to make room for it and not taking empty plates away. She dropped our dessert and espresso off and within 30 seconds asked us to pay the bill. No, it was not closing time. The espresso tasted like old coffee. It didn't remotely resemble espresso. The dessert was stale-dry and drenched in chocolate syrup. It was so disgusting we didn't finish it. As far as asking for something else, who could find her. She still had no problem socializing and hanging out with other tables though. We usually have excellent service at this restaurant so not sure what was going on with this server. But she literally made our meal so unpleasant. I come here often and brought someone with me who would never been here before. The person I brought with me said they will never return because of how awful this server was. Over $100 wasted because of this server. This was supposed to be a special night's dinner and she literally ruined it...
