We are new to the area and I stopped to pick up lunch for my family. We ordered 2 roast beef, 1 meatball and 2 sausage with pepper and onion subs for take out. I waited 15 mins for them to make more bread to accomodate my large order which I did not mind. The bread is excellent and well worth the wait. The roast beef and meatball subs were also very good. The sausage subs left a lot to be desired. They were swimming in sauce with a fair amount of sliced sausage. We had to dig thru all the sauce to find 4 or 5 small thin pieces ( not even slices) of peppers with no onions in a 12" sub. When I called to let them know that they forgot them I asked if I could go back and get some for our sandwhiches. I was told that he did put them in there. I offered to bring the sandwhiches back and show him there were none (again giving him the benefit of doubt for forgetting) I was told very rudely that I can bring them if I want but that's what he puts in there and we weren't going to get any. He claimed he can only put so much in a sandwhich. I understand that food costs are high and some cuts need to be made but they should either take the peppers and onions off the menu and change the name of the sub to sauce and sausage or if cuts really need to be made... leave off some of the sauce the bread was swimming in. Unfortunately, I did not ask for any names when I was talking to them. The lady that waited on us was very friendly and gave great customer service. The older man that was cooking is very rude and for that ( and the lack of peppers and onions) we will not be back. I sure hope he...
Read moreI literally tripped over this market almost 8 years ago. When I first walked in I thought, "just another wanna be Italian market." 'O Sole Mio, was I mistaken and happy that I was.
This little market/restaurant is just like home and is run by Arsenio who grew up in both Italy and the US. He will welcome you in Italian and converse with you too always willing [unless slammed] to chat especially about food. Bruce is rarely seen as he hides in the kitchen Where is may be cooking the fresh soup-of-the day, baking fresh bread they usually run out of, making a fresh batch of red sauce, cooking up the hot-lunch specials, or maybe even your hot subs, pizza or calzones. Mornings you may even find him making their fresh mozzarella!
They offer imported pasta, cookies, wines and Sicilian EVOO, and even specialty condiments for sale.
Deserts are all made on the premises too and don't think they are few, two types of biscotti - anisette or almond, bars and mini-cakes, and pies...my favorite being Ricotta by the slice or the whole pie. The best I have ever had.
Holidays they take orders for the special feasts being celebrated, order early because they won't have left-overs for sale.
Grazie per il...
Read moreOk. So first time coming here. We ordered 1 Cold Cut Sandwich and an order of Spaguetti with marinara sauce and for dessert we had a tiramisu and a canolli. I'll start with the sandwich, super fresh bread and great flavor it was my first cold cut ever and it did not disappoint. Home made tiramisu great balance of flavors not too sweet perfect, flufy and creamy. The canolli OMG!! One of the best I have had. The filling great balance of sweetness and the shell super crispy and well seasoned with cinnamon and salt it was super good. Then came the reason I did not gave a 5 star. The Spaguetti and sauce, to my shock the pasta was waaaayyy overcooked, it almost dessintagrated in your mouth, bland no salt whatsoever which is weird since Italian like their pasta super aldente. The sauce had a weird taste to it really disappointing after everything else that was great, I would say more than great. Nevertheless, I will give the benefit of the doubt and say it was a bad day which we all can have and I will definitevelly come back to try another sub and probably the pasta. If the pasta is good the next time I will give the much deserved 5 stars. Because it is definitely worth it for the other...
