The staff was fairly unprofessional with several guests. A simple quest like what kind of oyster they had was answered fairly sarcastically. When I stepped in I was not ready to order, but after 5 min of debating what to get the cashier decided to chop some onions. I waited till the individual was roughly done and said I was ready to order, and the cashier rolled their eyes. Kept mumbling and was very hard to understand. I asked if it was possible to add something additional and said sure. Did not say how much it cost, but when I asked was told to look at the screen. The cashier took my name down incorrectly and was apparent when someone brought out my food, and by far not even close... I dislike a tip screen for the limited service that they do and not a plain option for no tip. If all that is being done besides cooking is bringing out food, and not even a glass of water (only a bottle) there should not even be a tip option
So let's move on to the location. Parking is everywhere. There are no lines or signs to indicate parking. I was blocked in because someone else decided to park differently. There is an outdoor seating area that had paper towels all over the place, dirty dishes just stacking up, and crud on the tables. The location is right off a main fairway so it is pretty loud. I would not recommend eating outside, but take your order to go and go to the park nearby. There is also no outside rinse station to clean your hand and would have been a nice touch.
On to the food. Besides the incorrect name being called out, the employee just slapped it down. Food was cold, maybe lukewarm at best, which is not acceptable for a boil, let alone the broiled oysters I had asked for as well... They do not do the traditional boil style in a bag, rather it's a tray with wax paper... Yes, wax paper and a tray. The worst part is that the tray has holes in it so over time the liquids run off into the tray and drip down. Thankfully I had placed paper towels down ( due to the gunk on the table even after dry wiping the table). There were also no claw breakers, and when I asked, I was told to bite down on the claws... The spice level I asked for, spicy, was not even present in the slightest, and I saw nothing but a bunch of garlic (couldn't really taste..).. I understand prep takes a lot of time, but cutting a potato the size of an adult fist is silly. Take a second and slice it the other way one time to make it more manageable and presentable.
I was not the only individual that felt this way there, as others as I was waiting for someone to move their car talked to me about their experience... I highly recommend at least a different location, or better yet go...
Read moreWe were recommended, as well as the reviews drew us in. Outdoor seating only (lots of flies), very small ordering area. Maybe 6-7 picnic tables. Not the best parking, we had to park across the street because there was no parking available at the restaurant. It looks like what used to be an old gas station. Beautiful sea inspired paintings all over. The staff was very friendly.
The food: We waited about 45-50 mins to have our number called, we ordered #2 - crab legs and shrimp as well as a platter for 2, an extra cluster of crab, 2 sides of rice, 4 cans of soda, and broccoli. When the food arrived, everything had already cooled down by a significant amount. The butter had begun to solidify. The shrimp, potatoes, corn, and sausage were delicious. The crab legs were over cooked and barely any meat within. Majority of the legs, I had to bend to open. Did not need the utensil that they provided. The scallops were big, just over cooked and rubbery. I ordered boiled eggs and they were rubbery and well over cooked. The garlic bread looked delicious, but it was cold. I wasn’t able to enjoy it much.
Everything was covered WAY TOO MUCH seasoning salt and butter, it was literally drenched...
We drove about 2 hours with expectations of great food and and even better evening on the beach. We enjoyed the beach, for sure!
Over all I paid well over $130 that Sunday afternoon. I wouldn’t recommend, no. I’ve had plenty of fresh seafood, from all over the world. This was not worth the money. I didn’t complain directly to anyone at the time because I figured for the amount of money, time and the pace that everyone was working at, there should’ve been no excuse. I also didn’t want to be the complaining customer that slowed down everyone else’s order. They had been waiting...
Read moreThe guy that was shucking our oysters today absolutely had NO GLOVES ON! He was shucking the oysters on the same table where you serve people for their to-go orders. He didn’t know how to shuck the oysters correctly by the way, as a person that’s in the industry. He was literally banging on the oyster straight out the box with the dirtiest towel with NO GLOVES ON HANDLING RAW FOOD, the wrong color cutting board, and then touching the raw part of the oyster with his bare hands that have black finger nail tips, getting upset because we ordered three dozen oysters. Waited 30 minutes for him to shuck 24 oysters. I would love if the owner of this establishment would please watch the camera asap and see how unsanitary this place really is. They even put chemicals on the same counter as raw food (check camera from Thursday at around 5-5:30 pm) Check your cameras!!!! I would highly suggest that anyone who reads this call 311. Give this guy some shucking classes, sanitary classes, and some training to rinse oysters before handling raw products! MAYBE EVEN PROVIDE GLOVES FOR EMPLOYEES WITH BLACK FINGER NAIL TIPS SO GROSS! I wouldn’t want him to lose his job, but he’s definitely making his job harder because he’s not properly trained. This was the most unsanitary thing I’ve ever witness considering oysters are one of the most dangerous foods on this earth if not serve and handled properly. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t even know a good oyster from a bad oyster. I really hope no one in the near future gets sick because of establishment and their LACK OF SANITATION and food handling. Please check your cameras. I’m not sure the Bogo sale is even worth it...
