Noble Tea Kava Bar — Restaurant in Melbourne

I stopped in this past week for the first time. This place is nicely decorated and you can tell these people put a lot of time into making this place nice. The floors are really cool as well as the bar tops. However, the environment can not save the service. The crowd in this place was odd to say the least and I feel uncomfortable anywhere that allows infants. I am doubting this place only allows 21+ considering she did not ask for either of our IDs. We both look young enough to the point where an ID would be asked for in my opinion.

Stood around for a few minutes before the kavatender spoke to us or even greeted us. Okay, no problem I had time to look at the menu and decide what I would like to order. After she was done serving someone else we were standing at the counter waiting to order and she still did not acknowledge us. After a few moments, she took our order and was pleasant enough but not friendly and certainly not what I expect of a kavatender. First half of our drinks we asked for to-go she walked away made those didn’t get the rest of our order. She comes back with the drinks and then takes the second half of our order and puts a drink in a glass cup, we asked if it could be to-go like the rest of our drinks and that seemed to bother her. As if it was an inconvenience to her, she assumed we were drinking anything there when we just ordered everything else to-go. We also did not receive stirring sticks for our kava which is a must for kava. She made our drinks and was able to recommend a few things like flavors and kava types. When we asked a question about one of the drinks she responded rudely. As if the question we asked was obvious when we were just asking for clarification. After we paid she had already walked away and we tried to give her a tip and say goodbye but instead we just left the money on the counter and left. The last issue I had with the service was the kavatender comparing drinks at this bar to a completely different kava bar which I do not go to so I don’t understand the comparison. Just think it’s a little funny to compare your drinks to a different kava bar…maybe we should go there instead. Also, it was a bad example considering we did not discuss whether or not we are frequent kava bar goers so how would we just know this other place?

The drinks….another customer recommended the kratom soda so I got one and asked the kavatender to just give whatever she recommended. There was no crazy bitter kratom taste which was nice but I was disappointed wondering if it was something made in-house or just a white rabbit. It was almost tasteless so maybe I’ll pick my flavor next time. The kava was smooth and what I would expect from most kava bars. The kraziest kava shot was not the best tasting but I don’t expect a good taste to any kava concentrate. It was fairly priced compared to other kava bars concentrated drinks and it was pretty strong. Lastly, the nitro was typical of most kava bars, bitter unless you get syrup in it, I look for nitros that do not need any extra flavoring but to each his own. I think the prices are fair and hope this place has better service in the future. My main issue here was the service so maybe we can try again on a different day. I have not been In Noble too much just because I’ve been so busy, but the few times I have I have been warmly welcomed by the amazing bar tenders Liv and Megan. These awesome young women have worked hard to give this bar an amazing reputation. I’ve been to many kava bars in the community and after the first experience I was not to sure how to feel about it I needed to give it another shot and they sold me. This has turned into one of my favorite spots. Super friendly knowledgeable staff that is quick to tend to your needs, you will not have to feel like you’ve been waiting for hours to order, and for the new ones in the community you will never have the problem of not understanding what you’re ordering.
