China Wok — Restaurant in Memphis

I ordered from China Wok on advice from a friend. Let me start with the ordering, it went well, I was told 30-45 minute delivery time and paid with a card over the phone. I waited a hour before I called to inquire about our food. I was told it would be there in 2-3 minutes... I waited 20. I called back and said I was yet to receive my food. At this point I was about a hour and a half from time I placed the order. The lady on the phone told me to hold on.... I waited. She then proceeds to tell me that my food was delivered. Well, if that was the case, I wouldn't be calling to inquire about it. She then says that the delivery driver gave it to someone in a house download the street. Hmmm.... ok. So, we all make mistakes, I ask if they will be sending our meal out asap to us. She tells me to walk down the street and get the food from the house they took it to. Seriously?! I can't even express my revulsion of that whole idea. So, I say under no circumstances will I be walking down my street looking for my (probably half-eaten at this point) $50 meal. She says she is going to send a delivery driver back to the (random) house to pick up the food and bring it to us. Ummm... how about ABSOLUTELY NO FREAKING WAY. So, I ask for a refund. They said sure, right away. Well, I'm now 2 hours in.... my family is hungry.... my guests are hungry. I have to call them 5 more times to get them to actually give me a refund. So, I ordered from Tokyo Grill near Trinity. 20 minutes and we had wonderful food with great service. I will never, and I do mean never, go to this place or recommend this place. Honestly?! Let me start by saying I called the store directly with this complaint. They did not offer any refund, etc... the person that took my order was very pleasant and friendly. My order was...house special fried rice, beef and scallops, dragon & phoenix, and 2 egg rolls. Was told 30 to 45 minutes. I was prepared to wait longer however, it got here quickly!! Driver was friendly and our order was correct. Here is the problem...... we had 6 shrimp in the dragon & phoenix, 3 shrimp in the house fried rice, and 3 TINY scallops in the beef and scallops. I don't normally complain so this phone call was difficult for me. But we paid $49 with delivery and tip for 2 entrees, 1 rice, and 2 egg rolls!! I called, again she was pleasant, and was told they put 6 shrimp in the D&P, 5 shrimp in the rice, and 5 in the beef and scallops. Ok, so the D&P had what they meant to put in it, but the other 2 were short. And, besides that, I am sorry, but 5 shrimp in a large order of house fried rice and 5 scallops in the beef and scallops is just not exceptable. They weren't even a good size. The scallops were smaller than a dime!!! We loved the flavor of the food, ordering and delivery was pleasant, I just hate that we will NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN:( I paid the same amount for 2 to eat from this place as we normally pay for 4 to eat at other places. I have recently started ordering take out from China Wok and can honestly say I wasn't in love at first. The egg drop soup is not to my liking but the wonton soup is amazing. Some dishes are just what I am used to and some are a little bland. However, the reason I am giving them such good marks is because of the service. They are always pleasant and kind. The delivery is SUPER fast and the food is always hot and fresh. Their biggest positive for me though came just tonight. I placed my usual order and said I would be paying cash. When the driver arrived I could not find my wallet anywhere. I quickly called the store and used my credit card which I had not taken out with me the night before. They were very accommodating in allowing me to change my method of payment while the driver was at my door. Then, a few moments later my doorbell rings again and the driver is standing there with a noticeable bulge in his shirt. He asked me what my wallet look like and I explained it to him at which time he produced my wallet which he had found out in my driveway. To say that I will be forever grateful is an understatement.
