Smoothie King — Restaurant in Memphis

We have avoided this location due to previously getting incorrect products. I am allergic to pineapples. Whenever I asked for no pineapple, I got pineapple and could not drink it. However, tonight we decided to try this location because it was close to us. We placed an order for one large smoothie and two medium smoothies. The young man told us that for the Large we could get a medium for $5.00. However, we really wanted one large. We had a coupon for the Dexter Road location for $2.00 off the price of a large. We pulled to the window and gave the young man our coupon, which expires Jan. 2021. He then told us the coupon was not valid and gave us the total. I thought I had misread the location so we paid full price. We then asked for the coupon back and were told that he had thrown it away. Upon returning home I pulled out the Clipper Magazine where this coupon came from and it clearly was valid. I called the store and asked for a Manager. I was told there was no Manager on duty. I asked for the Manager’s name and was provided with the information. I was given a number, the exact number I was talking to them on and another number, which turned out to be the store on Austin Peay. I called the Austin Peay store and left a message for the Manager regarding a complaint, along with my phone number. I then called back to the Dexter Road and informed the person that I would be speaking to the Manager regarding what happened and how I felt I had been lied to in order to keep from using the $2.00 coupon And, for us not to be given our coupon back when we requested it was deceptive. Given the past issues and now this, we cannot trust this location. How could anyone treat paying customers this way??? Not all Smoothie Kings are the same. We will return to our regular location. If I could have given this location no stars...

I never visited Smoothie King due to the reviews of ingredients not being fresh. Always did Tropical Smoothie, never had an issue with fresh. Heard about the Smoothie Bowls in May & decided to go there. Fresh ingredients for the first 5 visits, the 6th visit, looked like the strawberries had been sitting overnight in juice & they tasted old. Called manager was offered to make another one, did not take it, just called to tell them to check it. 2 days later tried it again, same thing bad fruit. Didn't go for 2 weeks & visited this morning, SAME THING! $11.51 for an item is too much to NOT get what you want.MGR. should realize you go to a places like that for fresh. Use fresh fruit if you are going to display the fruit on top of of the menu item. I will try the new one on Whitten Rd once they open, until then back to Tropical Smoothie. I was skeptical about smoothie King, because I thought that maybe they added sugar to bear smoothies that have juice. I am on a very clean diet and there are certain things I cannot consume. I found out that you can get vegan protein powder and they do not add sugar to the smoothies that have juice added to them. They have a great selection of smoothies with a decent variety of ingredients. They use stevia as a sweetener, which is a good thing.It's nice that they have options based on how hungry you are or how many calories you want to consume. You can watch them make the smoothe in front of you, so you know exactly what's going in it. They have a weekend special where you get a medium for the price of a small.
