Wow. Terrible. I would give zero stars if I could. I normally wouldn't bother writing a review, but I think the owner needs to hear this. In the past, we have had a fantastic time at the Corky's on Poplar Road in Memphis, so we decided to try this Germantown location, which happened to be closer to us at the time. Our first experience at this location was awful, but we decided to give it a second chance. This time, we walked in, there were only two customers in the entire restaurant, but only one employee in sight. The worker was behind the bar chit chatting with who was presumably a customer. She looked at me and made eye contact, but did not greet us, and did nothing when we continued to stand there with no host or anyone else around. We stood there a few minutes and then left after not a single person acknowledged our presence. We had a very similar experience the first time, however that time we were eventually seated. After we were seated we waited and waited and waited for ANYONE to come by. Mind you, we were the only customers in the building at the time. Our waiter behaved strangely with us, and as we eventually got to ordering he told us about the variety of things on our list that they "couldn't make" without explanation. When the food finally came, it was not like our previous good experiences. It tasted like it was not made fresh and as if it had been just sitting under a heat lamp forever. Again, we were the only customers. This location runs the risk of ruining the entire Corky's brand. There will be no third...
Read moreI went to dinner last night with 2 of my friends and the results of choosing Corky’s were astonishingly awful. When we walked in we were told that it would be a a slight wait on food because there was only 2 servers. We were totally fine with that but as it turns out it seemed like everyone else was getting great service. We ordered our drinks and our appetizer and it took 40 minutes to get us the brisket queso when there was only about 10 tables max. Our sever came a total of 3 times even though he was going to the other tables he had numerous times in those 40 minutes. We were ready to order about 5 minutes after we had ordered app. The app finally came but the person bringing it to us took it to 2 other tables before figuring out that it was ours. Our server never came back over till I had my arm outstretched from the table holding my card so that I could leave to go somewhere else to get my dinner. It took him 15 minutes to come back but at that point I had already been there for an hour too long. He kept trying to get us to stay and order but I was (still am) pissed off at the fact that he had ignored (his words) us. It took him around 6 minutes to bring my card back because he wanted to take another tables order first. That pissed me off even more. When we finally got the receipt it was 27$ and some change for a single beer a brisket queso and 2 sodas. I still left a tip but this is abhorrent awful service. I wish I could get my time...
Read moreThis was my first time trying Corky's. I'm itching to go back! The interior esthetic was one of the most impressive I've seen of a BBQ joint. I got a kick out of the bottle cap wall that greets you at the entrance. There was a lot of neat decades-themed pop culture artwork hung on the walls and matching music playing over the speakers. Our waitress was very enthusiastic, friendly, and accommodating. And now the food... Corky's definitely gives a good argument for being one of the best BBQ spots in Memphis. We had the onion loaf and rolls as an appetizer. The rolls were top notch. The BBQ ranch that came with the onion loaf really tied everything together (I even dipped my rolls in it). On the waitress' recommendation, I tried a full portion of the Pulled Pork Nachos as my entrée. These did not disappoint! There were a few ways to customize this. I added jalapeños and chose white queso. The jalapeños gave just the right amount of kick. The queso wasn't runny and held the meat on the chips well. The pulled pork was very tender and juicy. You really can't ask for anything better from a plate of nachos! I got to try a bite of the Spicy Catfish Nuggets from my family member's plate... they aren't playing around with their catfish! The nuggets seemed to have been doused in some kind of buffalo sauce, but they weren't overwhelmingly hot. I started to regret not ordering those nuggets! If you're ever in Memphis, don't miss...
