We stopped coming here for a reason but forgot why. Then today we were reminded. Ordered a pitcher of margaritas and placed our food order. Waited and waited and finally when the waitress that took our ordered brought food out to another table I asked about our margaritas and she had the nerve to ask me if I told the other waitress. WHAT??? Um no! You took our order. Why would I ask or tell another server??? Then the other person came to the table while I was explaining to my husband that our order was put in to the kitchen and argued with me! I wasn’t even talking to her. I was telling my husband that we did not have to reorder because our order should be coming out soon. My husband got his food. It had been sitting in the window so long that the rice was dried out and hard. Half of the shrimp on his dish were over cooked and the others were flat out burned. My fajitas were cold while my daughter’s came out sizzling. I then had to ask for silverware. This was once a great place to have a good meal and a drink. Not the case now. Not sure what changed but it’s a lost cause. Save your time. Save your money. Go to Taco Bell.

Read moreWe visited this location after voting as it is close to home. I ordered something I had never had and was unimpressed but I can't hold that against them. I had an issue and as soon as I brought it to their attention it was immediately corrected. My issue was when I got the bill. At the bottom it listed the gratuity in percentage at the bottom of the ticket. Ours at 15% was less than $5. The ticket listed it as $15. It listed 18% as $18 and 20%as $20. I pointed this to the young lady ringing me up. She pulled tickets for the past week and all were the same. A man approached and we assumed he was the manager because he had been directing staff. Ha asked if something was wrong and I showed him and he said "Good". I pointed out that it could be thought of as trying to cheat his customers and he said "I dont care". I asked what would happen is someone took the ticket to a news station and they ran a story on it as it would make the restaurant look bad. He said "Let them I dont care. Have a good night" He walked off and we walked out. We wont...
Read moreWe arrived in Memphis about a month ago and have been trying to local flavor ever since. One thing that we've been unable to find is a decent, affordable Mexican restaurant. We tried local favorites like On The Border and Las Delicias, but neither one fit the bill. Today, we tried El Mezcal behind Sears on Perkins Extd. Bingo!
The Good: The atmosphere is quaint, yet ornate. The salsa, albeit somewhat hot, is very tasty and fresh The entrees are large, affordable, and OH, SO DELICIOUS! When I bit into my burrito, my tastebuds were met with a hot burst of flavor, which penetrated into every nook and cranny, resulting in complete and utter fulfillment.
The Bad: The chips look store-bought, which is a shame, given how good the salsa is. The parking lot was designed by a drunk, or a masochist. The service, which was not slow, was also not fast. It was bearable.
Summary: For your money, we have not found a better Mexican restaurant that combines incredible flavor with affordable prices. Go here, eat very well, go home...
