General Manager Norberto Flores, I hope you are able to retrain Tina on how to talk to people and offer quality customer service. Most people would probably not remain so calm when getting cussed out by an employee. I sure hate it for you that this is who you have training new employees. You definitely do not want a bunch of little “Tinas” running around your restaurant.

At Hopdoddy fries come out before the burgers. Not a problem if you don’t want fries AND a burger as opposed to a fries THEN a burger. It was a surprise to me. I think it’s stupid, but hey… run your company the way you want. I’ve only ever had to-go from here before this day, so I didn’t know.

My friend and I were talking about how it’s different and how we wish we would have known at the time of ordering. Probably could have asked that they come out at the same time. I told him I think it’s stupid. The bartender/trainer/manager came over and started chastising me about their way of doing things. She said, “This is how we do it at Hopdoddy. The fries come out first. If you would have asked me nicely, I could get you some fresh fries. It’s just our policy to do the fries first. Some people like their fries first. But that’s our policy. At ABC restaurant they do their shit first. At XYZ restaurants they do their shit last. This is just how we do it here.” I just starred at her. I’m actually amazed that I didn’t read her the riot act for cussing at me or just get up and leave.

She went on to reiterate that if we “just ask nicely,” she would be happy to get us fresh fries when the burgers came out. Ma’am, I don’t want anything else from you. I just told her ok and turned back to my friend.

After the burgers came, she dropped a new bowl of fries with us. I did not want them, and we did not eat them. A few minutes later she asked if she could get us more drinks or maybe dessert. I said, “No. We don’t need anything else from you.” She took this opportunity to offer a half-a$$ apology for her behavior. She said, “I was offended. I thought you were talking bad about Jason and me calling us stupid.” Jason is the bartender kid she was training. Jason was great! She (Tina) was not. I said, “Miss, I didn’t call you or him stupid. I said THIS is stupid. This POLICY is stupid.” Mgr-ish Tina said, “Well that’s why I was offended. Because you were talking about Hopdoddy, and I work here.” So was it that she thought I was talking about her and Jason? Or was it because she didn’t like me speaking negatively about her place of employment??

I told her that, as a paying customer, I didn’t appreciate being reprimanded like a child for having an opinion about a business I was frequenting. And I REALLY didn’t appreciate being cussed at by her. She said, “ That’s fair, but I didn’t like you calling our policy stupid.” That’s fair? That’s fair?! Ma’am, the level of unprofessionalism displayed by a manager wearing a trainer t-shirt and working with a new employee was ridiculous! It’s quite a bit more than “fair”. And I hope Jason learned a lot about how NOT to act from listening to this exchange.

I closed out with Jason. He was wonderful. He prepared our drinks using the standard recipe. He was clearly learning the process. This was his 4th day of training. The drinks were great, and he was super nice. However, Tina made sure to tell us that he is way too slow and our service should have been faster. Why share this with us?

I would NEVER return to this place if I knew she was working. I would walk in, see...

The food was great both visually and taste-wise. Atmosphere was okay. The service leaves a lot to be desired. I stood at the counter for what seemed like ages. There at least 3 employees behind the counter, less than 4 feet from me. They didn’t acknowledge my presence. The gentleman that I perceived to be the manager was exceptionally dismissive. He looked into my eyes as he passed me by and never made any king of gesture of good will. When they finally took my order, since it was my very first visit, I asked what might be recommended. The young lady simply muttered something quickly which was of no use. I ordered and of course paid the tip upfront(something I really take issue with especially in situations like this)

They don’t seat you, they give you a ticket with the table number on it and from that moment you are entirely on your on. When your food is ready, the server brings it by your table and scampers away before you can say a word. There is no “Is everything okay?” Or “Can I get anything else for you!” I did need to make sure that I had the right order. It didn’t look like what I ordered. The server dropped my plate and ran off so fast and literally had to screen sir at least three times which caused a bit of a scene. He made it clear when he came back that he did not appreciate being called back. Again, I had already tip nicely for this mistreatment. After that, no one came back to the tables to express concern of anykind. I sat and watched this was the case from one end of the restaurant to the other. Those ordering alcohol were treated a bit differently. I was not pleased at all to pay for abuse. Now, since I really liked the food, I decided to give the place one more try just to make sure that it wasn’t a fluke. The situation changed slightly but it was for the worse. The wait at the counter was even longer and I was the only customer in line. The manager was his usual dismissive self. The waiter dropped and ran just as before with absolutely no follow up.

There needs to be some major training in the customer service and service area in general.

So Hopdoddy, I can’t say that I will be back or bring others because my friends and family are much like me when they feel neglected and abused. We will find somewhere else. There is always an alternative. It’s sad to have delicious food and still leave a bad taste the client’s mouth. Food...

We were traveling from out of town, and like to try places that are not local to us. We read the reviews, and this seems like a nice place to try. Some of the reviews stated that the food took a while to come, I was certainly hoping this was not the case. I did notice the place was clean when I walked in. They also have a different concept. When you walk in, you order/pay for your food and drinks from the cashier. He takes your order, and gives you a table number. I was ready for the chili and cheese fries I saw on Google reviews, but they are only available in Texas at the moment (how long does it take to circulate chili/cheese fries through the franchise?) When you food is ready, they bring the food to your table. When we received our table number, someone was sitting at the numbered table that we were given. We were given another table number, that was dirty from previous customers. We sat at a clean table that we could find, and informed the cashier of that number. Unfortunately, like other reviews, our food took 45 minutes to come. My daughter ordered truffle fries, they came out after 20 minutes, but by the time my wife and I received our 2 burgers and large fries to share, my daughter was finished eating. The burgers and fries were good, I just did not expect a 45 minute wait.

I finally tried Hopdoddy for Mother’s Day weekend. My mom highly recommends this restaurant to me, so my brothers and I took her to dinner at Hopdoddy. You can tell this is a popular place because there were many people inside and outside the restaurant. It was very busy inside, but we were able to get a seat. We ordered our food at the counter and waited for the main entrees. While we waited for the main entree, we all shared a big bowl of Parmesan Truffle Fries. The fries were a good way to start our meal. We just kept eating them, and had to force ourselves to stop eating them so we don’t get too full before our main entrees come. When I saw my entrée in front of me, I was so excited. My main entree was the Mother Nature Burger. It was so beautiful to look at, and delicious to eat. The Mother Nature Burger had crispy onions, caramelized onions, cheese frico, fried egg, and Au Poivre Aioli. The combination of the crispy onions and caramelized onions was an excellent choice. Then you add that to the creamy Au Poivre Aioli sauce the softness of the fried egg it was a dream.

To start with they are a cashless business which I'm not fond of so that was a strike against them right off the bat. You go in and order from the counter and the girl was really nice but the menu was kind of confusing for a 1st time guest. You have to fix your own drinks and get the condiments that you want. They assign what table is yours and when we got to the table it was dirty so we stood there waiting on someone to clean the table. The bar tender goes what's the problem I say the table needs cleaned and he rolled his eyes then came and cleaned it. The girl brought our food and left without a word about if we needed anything. That was the last time we had any contact from an employee. I bit into my burger and oh my it was like they had dumped a bottle of salt on the burger! If someone had come by I would have gotten it remade it was that bad. My son had the chicken sandwich and he said it was ok. I would have never tipped 20% if I had none that you don't get service other than dropping off the food.
