I was on a late lunch, couldn't really decide what I wanted. Went towards, Popeyes, Church's but as I as turning on Poplar I saw that Jack Pirtle's was open. Such a great surprise, so I thought since all the ones I used to frequent are closed (Bellevue and Highland, streets). There were not taking any orders inside, you had to go through Drive thru which had about four cars ahead of me. I was in the line about 15-20 minutes. Headed back to my job excited to bite into my lunch from a a vendor I hadn't been to in awhile. The gizzards were hard, old and had a slight after taste. My biscuits and fries were good. The gravy was ok at first but as I got down in the cup, it seemed as though I maybe had some leftover gravy with some over gravy on top cause it started tasting sour like. I made numerous attempts to call them location to speak to a manager but no one answered. I even called the location in Bartlett (I think) but I only got an answering service. I really wanted to treat myself today and enjoy my food but that was a wasted $8.00. The gizzards was awful and I have no one to complain to. I was on my lunch break, I dont have time to drive back there after I got back to my office. Why can't fast food locations be consistent? Not sometimes good, sometimes great, sometimes bad, and sometimes ok? Why not be great...
Read moreI have gone there numerous times to go try their steak burger and other things but the steak burger is most likely the best/worst thing on the menu. The first time i got it it was hot, juicy, gravy was good, and the employees were nice and chatty and got the order correct however this was about a year ago. The second time i went I got the steak burger again, it was inedible, full of gristle and tasted like garbage. I honestly thought that they would just take it back and give me another one, I had the receipt and the burger which was just a mess because I tried to eat it however they said since I "ate" it, I couldn't get a refund. I paid like 5$ for one crappy bite. THis was about a month ago. Third and final time I went (This is why I will never eat there again).. I got home and realized they didn't give me my change, napkins or anything else in the bag. I was going to be ok with this if the sandwich was ok, however it was ICE cold I picked it up in the bag with my hands and just cursed and and put it in the microwave, I have gotten warmed sandwiches at Subway. So all in all just go to another restaurant, ANY restaurant, at least they will warm up...
Read moreSorry, but this is some nasty fried chicken and don’t get me started on the gravy. Who has ever seen greenish gravy before, I haven’t. Never.
First off I went here because a friend went up and down that this was better then Gus’s chicken. To honest, I went with high expectations. When I got home and took out the chicken. It look and tasted like yesterday’s fried chicken. The chicken was worst then what you get at Walmart and that’s not very good.
The skin look like it was under a heat lamp for a few hours and the meat tasted rubbery and old. I really was disappoint and really mad at my friend. The mash was okay nothing unique about it. But the gravy…well it tasted funny and it was green in color. I really can not see what is special about their chicken and how it gets good reviews.
It only shows you that Memphis does not recognize good food yet.
This is the type of chicken that makes you beg mama to let you move back in.
You need fast chicken…stick with KFC. If you can wait and spend the extra coin…go to Gus’s. Want to try Jack Pirtle’s…go to your local Kroger or Walmart. At least their chicken will...
