If you're looking for a restaurant with a down-home feel but food that packs a big flavor punch, look no further than Kitchen Laurel! I had the pleasure of dining here twice in one week, and let me tell you—it was that good!
The menu is full of freshly prepared dishes that go way beyond the typical fare. The staff was incredibly accommodating and attentive, making sure every detail of our experience was just right. Chef Kevin even took the time to visit our table, which added a personal touch to the meal.
As for the food, words can hardly do it justice! On my first visit, I tried the sweet potato waffle and the "grit and grind" (shrimp and cheesy grits). Chef Kevin outdid himself with these dishes—they were absolutely delicious! I cleaned my plate and was already planning my return.
On my next visit, I had the breakfast fried rice. Stacy suggested I try it with tofu, and even though I’m not usually a fan, she assured me this wasn’t your average store-bought tofu. I’m so glad I took her advice! The dish was so good it would’ve made me want to slap my momma if she were dining with me! Oh, they have grab and go and take and bake dishes. I grabbed the black-eyed peas hummus as a gift for a friend. She can’t stop talking about it.
Thank you, Kitchen Laurel, for the amazing food, great conversation, and a new favorite brunch spot. Two thumbs up, highly...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining here, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for what turned out to be a delightful brunch. The decor is stylish yet cozy, with touches of art on the menu that celebrate Black culture and history.
The menu is a perfect blend of classic brunch favorites and innovative dishes that showcase the chef's creativity and culinary skills. I started with a iced coffee that just.... lawd! Amazing! I didn't order the Sweet Potato waffles, but I noticed from the table next to me that they were fluffy and perfectly spiced, topped with syrup. Those and the Shrimp and Grits are on my list to try because I can bet those dishes are flavorful. I ordered the steak bagel sandwich and it was so delicious.
The service was exceptional. The staff were attentive and genuinely friendly, making sure every detail was taken care of. It's clear that the team at Kitchen Laurel takes pride in creating a welcoming environment and delivering top-notch service.
What sets this restaurant apart is not just the fantastic food, but also the sense of community and celebration of culture (you can tell by looking at the menu). It's more than just a meal; it's an experience that feeds both the body and soul. I can't recommend eating enough and can't wait for...
Read moreHoly moly. Run, don't walk, to Kitchen Laurel! Actually, walk, bike, drive - whatever you have to do!
I'm sitting in the restaurant writing this review because the love in this place has me holding back tears. Love in the food, love in the community. I went with the biscuit and gravy because it's always good to see how a place does classic menu staples, but I can't wait to come back and try the more creative menu items! The biscuit and gravy looks and tastes like home. 🥹
Stuff like quality coffee served in adorable cup and saucers with real cream goes a long way with me in itself, but the place also maintains a minimalist efficiency peppered with thoughtful touches. Creative solutions to the space issue like take-and-bake meals are brilliant and show how much thought went into this business.
I was served by Stacy herself, and I must say I applaud this woman for recognizing the fire in her husband and nurturing it so well. What a beautiful, beautiful thing. This is the kind of place that makes me never want to...
