Lily's Bakery and Catering — Restaurant in Memphis

I placed an order a few weeks ahead for a caramel dulce de leche cake. It was very easy placing the order and I was confident in the cake I would be receiving considering the price and clarification I gave on the phone but upon receiving my cake it was not what I expected at all. The cake itself was very dry and lacking in flavor, even the icing, it seemed like it was made several days before the requested pickup day. The only flavor was provided from the thick strips or caramel in between the layers of cake. I have had a caramel dulce de leche cake before and was looking so forward to this one but it was not what I had ordered at all and did not even make up for it in taste. Another issue was when I requested just a specific color for them to do the decorations I was told it would be an extra charge, so I let her decorate it as she please to avoid the charge. Whenever I picked up the cake she told me she didn’t know what color I wanted so she did blue even though I had asked for green over the phone. The cake looked good but with the taste being nothing like I requested and the comment about the color it just gave me so my frustration and disappointment with this bakery. I am never going to discourage a new business. Or when I can stop in to see what new businesses are in my neighborhood I live nearby. We stopped in near right before the holiday last month. Got 2 pieces of and gift to the max carrot cake. You smell pieces of cheesecake in too little desserts in a little plastic container and it cost 60 bucks. Got home and I am not a dessert. Nor is my elderly family member. However, both of us were like really. I know that there's a lot of positiveness in and what not and everything was good, but that was just our personal experience and unfortunately, I'm where I'm probably gonna be my last time there. Just want to try it out, it's a bit overpriced. I understand that things are costly these days, especially when it comes to making desserts. I'm not being a negative, is this? We've had a bad experience and what's even worse is when you drop 60 bucks on 2 pieces of cake. 2 small wedges of cheesecake and 2 little parfaits raspberries. We tried this place for the first time the other day and I gotta say this place is amazing. As soon as my fiancee walked in the two ladies that worked there was so friendly and helpful. Customer service means alot and they exceed our expectations. We tried the monster cookies and they are to die for 😍😋. We will definitely be back trying more of y'all products asap 😊 Update from 04/27/2024 so we went today and got a bunch of stuff. Empanadas, the sandwich, Nutella cheese, coconut flan and some more monster cookies. Y'all everything was soooo 🔥🔥🔥. The empanadas with that green sauce 🤤 stop it I'm obsessed.
