Set back from the road a little bit with ample parking and a simple storefront was what I was looking for. Off Beale Street but still BBQ quality. Greeted by the casual Memphis charm as soon as I walked through the door, followed by a wath of the cool smoke that was about to tantalize my taste buds. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, spicy, with coleslaw on top and 5 full wings, dry rub. When I say the sandwich was crisp with a bite and a sauntering undertone of sweet smoke, you know what I'm talking about. It was fresh with a combination of flavors that permeated through my tastebuds with a lingering of the beautiful, chopped, not pulled, smoked pork. When I say it was exactly what I wanted and battling at the top of a arguable list of pulled pork sandwiches, it is high up there. From the bun, to the smoked meat, to the BBQ sauce, and coleslaw; on point!
The chicken wings weren't overdone, uncomplicated, and were everything I needed. I got the dry rub because I like the sweet and savory combination between the chicken meat and flavors of a dry rub. Comparison is the thief of joy and I can't compare the wings to the pork sandwich but I did like the sandwich better. But, like I said, the wings were exactly what I wanted without knowing it.
The dust leftover should explain it all, I ate everything off the plate and it being a BBQ place, it came with the exterior left over decoration of a...
Read moreI called in to order a turkey BBQ sandwich (or nachos) since they are one of the few establishments that have turkey options. Unfortunately, after calling, I was placed on hold to hear three order inside being taken. Then, it sounded like another customer came in, and she recieved their order. At this point, I had been on hold between 7-10 minutes. Therefore, I hung up and called back only to be placed back on hold for another five minutes. So, I hung up and called again. When I called this time, I started saying my order as she finished her greeting. Again, she placed me on hold.
Needless to say, I didn't eat at the establishment this particular day. I really wish I could receive better call-in service, so that I can patronize them during my lunch break.
The food is good when I get it, but I very rarely choose this place as a lunch break option because it's too difficult to call in and order. Needs much improvement.
I recommend that you go to the establishment if you're trying to order. Otherwise, there is no gain on calling the play like the...
Read moreStaff was very friendly. Good and prompt service. The atmosphere was very confusing. Nothing about it look like a BBQ restaurant. It wasn't very inviting. I'm not sure when but apparently the restaurant had a makeover with food Network but the building hasn't been kept up with. The restrooms weren't very clean. I was disappointed with the food. The beans were so-so, potato salad was warm, I wanted a sausage link but they didn't have any so they put a hot link on a bun and smothered it with barbecue sauce. I'm used to Texas BBQ and good juicy sliced brisket and was looking forward to a different version of Tennessee BBQ but did not expect a plate of dry chopped brisket with two cups of barbecue sauce covering it. There was so much barbecue sauce I couldn't taste the meat. The nachos were cheap bad tortilla chips with Rico's canned nacho cheese which is fine at a movie theater. Maybe the ribs are better I don't know. There is so much hype Pollard being a Dallas cowboy I think that overshadowed the quality...
