Oh MY, this was a disappointment. The ratings and reviews led us to believe this would be the perfect venue for our honeymoon dinner. I'm not exactly sure which restaurant the reviewers were experiencing, but it sounds nothing whatsoever like this.
The establishment in which we attempted to enjoy a meal was something quite different.
The atmosphere is astonishing. Incredible water views! This initial impression belies the experience we were about to have.
The AC was working. So well, in fact, that my wife was shivering. Now, before you go assuming she's being a Karen, we're talking about someone who sleeps with windows ajar during Alberta clippers in December. So there's that...
As soon as we asked for water(we aren't alcoholics), we found our server to be looking around the room at her other tables. We ordered a crab cake appetizer. She literally brought out one. Two people, one crab cake. You'd think our server MIGHT point that out to us. She didn't. That could have worked in her favor, as more appetizers would help offset our prior infraction of choosing to drink(gasp!) water with our meal. Good that she didn't care, as the crab cake was revolting and sent back. Again, ONE crab cake. $13. One crab cake. Berg's Landing is hilarious!
The ribeye I ordered was to be prepared medium rare. The meat was literally a strange, greyish-beige. I saw no red. No pink. The meat even lacked the striations one sees in beef. Perhaps it's over processed. Flavor was okay, but nothing Spectacular. My wife had chicken Parmesana. Uninspired was the most flattering adjective she could muster .
By this point, our server had made herself scarce. I had to flag her down to get the bill. Get this: she LITERALLY ROLLED HER EYES. Then... she busted out the dessert tray. OH, goody. We opted against dessert.
The repulsive single-serve crab cake was removed from our bill, and this was pointed out to us as if it were a very unusual courtesy seldom practiced in the industry.
I think you get the idea.
Clearly disappointed. Treated as inconvenient burdens. Still, i left a gratuity exceeding 20%. My wife found out and, well...let's just say I've seen...
Read moreStopped here on a whim not knowing reservations are basically required. It was later, about 745 pm. Lucky they had an open table. I mentioned to our waitress Cindy that we felt very underdeessed as we were hiking at pictured rocks all day. She assured us ot was totally fine and said everybody is welcome there, it made me feel a little better about wearing a t shirt and shorts to such a nice establishment. We had our dog in the car, with the AC on and were going outside to check on her every 10 minutes, the waitress offered to open the blind for us so we could watch her from the table. Very very nice of her. Service A+++!!!!!
The food. My gf had the French onion soup, I had the oysters mornay for appetizers and wow were they good! I got to finish off her soup. Also excellent. Then the salad and fresh bread came. The salad had black olives, and sport peppers in it, which my gf doesn't like, so I got extra. What a great salad, served in a bowl so you could make it how you wanted it as well.
Main course. I had the prime rib, my gf had the Cajun tenderloin. No steak knives needed, it was SOOOO TENDER! And the flavor was PERFECT. I had broccoli ad a side with mine and the serving was very large, seemed like a whole head of broccoli. My gf had the twice baked potato which is her fav side, and said it was the best one she'd ever had at a restaurant. Her tendy also came with 2 scallops on top, I was a bit jealous. I got a side of mushrooms with my prime they were also done perfectly and tasted wonderful.
By this time we were SOOOOO full, our server Cindy came around with a tray of deserts that looked wonderful, but there was no way I could even partake in that.
All in all probably one of my top 5 favs, it is an hour and 15 minutes from us, but I guarantee we will be making the trip to menonimee mi, from WI soon!
Thank you Bergs Landing and Cindy for making us feel so welcome and the WONDERFUL meal!
We go to A LOT of supper clubs and you guys...
Read moreHorrible service. So horrible that we didn’t even sit down to have a meal. A few weeks ago, we booked a last minute accommodation in Marinette. There had been an outage in the town we were staying at in Michigan and we had no reception the entire day. It was a tough day with terrible winds and heavy rain. When we were getting closer to Marinette and stumbled across The Landing, we saw the great reviews and were excited to give my sister a great birthday dinner to make up for the change in plans for the weekend. To our surprise, we were met with rudeness from not only the host but a few servers. The host had asked if we had any reservations and we said we did not to which she responded that we really should have made a reservation as a group of seven, especially on a Saturday evening. Completely understandable but what was uncalled for was the tone and attitude she said it all in. My mom and sisters could sense the animosity. The host said she would see what she could do, but she definitely did not look pleased to see us or even pleased to help. Other servers walked past and gave us a dirty, amused looks as if they had never seen a group of seven. We came at an early time well before closing and already had bad vibes from the place. We had a rough day and were not going to put up further with the service we were already receiving. We told the host that we were going to leave and find another spot. Ended up going to Kwik Trip and had even better service there.
Overall, if you are looking for a spot, be ready for the inappropriate and rude customer service. They really should...
