This place was... decent, confusing is the best word I can think of. 3/4 drinks our group had were great, the other just... confusing, and that holds for the rest of the establishment.
You walk in and there is absolutely no indication where to go or what to do for drinks, just a long wide hallway with no obvious signage.
After finding the barroom, again no signage but with waiters/waitresses running around taking orders. We just kinda assumed we were supposed to grab a table, after a couple minutes service came to take our orders so that must have been the right assumption.
Any direction, any signage, any direction at all would have been most welcome.
Now the barroom itself had some very loud weird city club music, again, leaving us feeling confused, like we're in a club not like it's 3pm on a Saturday sitting down for a relaxing drink with friends. The music was loud enough we were having to shout over each other simply to talk, and because it was so loud everyone had to talk louder to compensate which just left me feeling like I was drowning in noise.
Confusing, to stick with the theme there was a massive TV behind the bar playing Frasier. Like, what? What kind of aesthetic is this place going for, sports bar or up-scale distillery? It doesn't even jive with the club music. Very, very confusing.
And we haven't gotten to the drinks! Which, as I said, 3/4 were fantastic but that other one was just damn confusing. It was the apple gin fizz, something along those lines, with an egg white foam on top of a very fizzy drink. I should have known better than to order that combo, but whoof, creamy egg white with fizzy, ginny soda does not go well together. One's all cream and smooth while the other's foamy water, so beyond just the texture's not jiving they didn't even mix well so I was left trying to grab a mouth full of egg while sipping the drink.
The bones are amazing. Like I said, 3/4 of this place are great, 3/4 of our drinks were great, 3/4 of the physical location were great, but that other 1/4, the lack of signage, the weird massive TV, the abhorrently loud club music, and the weird drink combo just left a weird taste in my mouth.
I am absolutely eager and excited to come back and see how they've improved in a couple weeks. They're still a new establishment, I expect them to still be dialing in their methodology... but until they do so prepare to be left as...
