I wanted a nice Chinese buffet lunch. I looked up this restaurant that I used to visit frequently. Google map information stated there would be a lunch buffet.
There is NO LUNCH BUFFET. This information should be updated.
I was disappointed but decided to eat anyway.
I think they’re only open from 11 to 2 for dine in. A sign on the door said take out only (at certain times).
I ordered a bowl of hot and sour soup ($3.50) and the mixed appetizer plate ($10).
The soup was okay but not great. It was a small cup of soup and I thought it wasn’t much considering the 3.50 price. It had plenty of tofu and bamboo shoots but not much meat, though there was some. The flavor was not balanced either; it was needed more of the vinegar flavor.
The appetizer platter was excellent. The egg roll was huge and stuffed full of various ingredients including tiny shrimp. It was hot and crunchy outside. The wontons were fried perfectly and were also very tasty. The beef skewer was average. It didn’t have much flavor and was not tender. The shrimp was shaped into a circle and at first I thought it was an onion ring. The chicken was a nice piece of chicken breast but it had too much breading on it for my taste. Five stars for this dish.
The appetizer platter was served with small pitchers of duck sauce and spicy mustard sauce.
I drank water and the wait staff did a pretty good job keeping my glass full. I could have had a few more refills but I understand they’ve got a lot to do.
For some reason I didn’t have any napkins at my table, just the silverware. I had to...
Read moreDecent Americanized Chinese food. I went there for lunch.
They had 2 dishes labeled "hot". Neither were at all hot. One was a pork szechuan dish and the other was chicken curry. Flavorwise they were good, just not at all hot.
There were green beans in butter and garlic with mushrooms. I picked out the mushrooms. The beans were excellent!
They pepper steak was good, but way too many onions. Like 5 onions for each steak piece. I am not a fan of onions as a food. They are nice flavor addition, but not something I like to eat.
The chicken fried rice was pretty good. Standard flavor and texture.
The deep fried chicken had a batter that was crisper than most places. I liked it that way. The sweet and sour sauce was fresh and had the flavoring veggies still in it.
There were a few other dishes also. None were bad. All were a bit bland other than sweet. The spices are muted. That is why only 4 stars.
They brought me my iced tea with a small pitcher also. Outstanding! One of my pet peeves is when I get a small glass and have to keep asking to refill it. That extra pitcher is a great idea!
Service was very good. I got there early, so was not greeted at the door, but once they saw me, they were very attentive.
Price for food was a decent balance. I will go back. Likely 3-4...
Read moreThis is the first time I'm trying food from here. It has received good reviews so I gave it a try. I placed an order for pick up. I definitely wanted to try their egg rolls because it has peanut butter in them. I first tasted egg rolls with peanut butter at Peach Garden, but they are long gone. I have to say this vegetable egg roll has got to be the best I ever had. The flavor of the filling inside is very tasty. It's fried to a nice golden color with a nice crunch. It's also nice and plump with ample filling. They also offer a minced pork and shrimp egg roll. I also ordered chicken fried rice. You get a lot of rice for the order. It's made with bean sprouts, egg, green onion and chicken. That's the way I like it prepared. I asked for the rice to be prepared a little darker but it came a little pale still but the flavor wasn't lacking especially when I added some soy sauce to it. I really enjoyed the food especially when it has been difficult to find a Chinese restaurant with food prepared like how I remembered it years ago. I will be returning to try their...
