Smokey J's Four P's Review: Price: 4/5. Good value for the quality received. Rooms and furnishings are a bit dated, but if you squint you can pretend the lobby is your uncle's cabin. Beds/cleanliness/AC were all fine. Pantry: 4/5. Hot breakfast available with good quality. Coffee dispenser requires cat-like reflexes to avoid overfilling the small cups but tasted fine. pH: 1/5. Water was very soft. Still not sure if I've rinsed all the soap off. More a result of local water supply than under the hotel's control. Patio: 4/5. Uncovered smoking area includes a bench just outside the front door. Bonus P-- Pool: 4/5. Indoor/outdoor with swim-under portal connecting the two halves. Throwback glory you'll likely only find in the Midwest. Indoor portion is shaped like a "U" and had plenty of seating/tables. Outdoor portion is rather small but has a few lounges in a fenced area. Bonus P #2-- Patience: 5/5. Visited with a rather large group and the staff was very helpful and patient despite a lot of requests and disruptions. A great home-base for our Mequon activities.

Very nice. We found the pool to be warm, and very interesting: shaped like a horseshoe and with an outdoor section. Loved the outdoor part! Alas, the hot tub has been closed for years (hotel's web site is clear about this but a popular travel site got that detail wrong). In my pics the hot tub is in the middle of the horseshoe of the pool, and is covered with a round gray slab-cover that has a certain permanence to it. I think the layout is not ADA-compliant: There isn't a deck (a floor) all the way around the hot tub because one side of the hot tub is flush up against the edge of the main swimming pool. So, it's not enough to "fix" the jets; they'd have to tear up and redo the concrete floor / deck of them pool area, I think. But nice BIG room, and it and the halls and lounge were all very clean. No elevator though so if that's important, be informed and request a ground-floor room for your stay.

I've wanted to see how this place of business that provides sleeping accommodations during covid19. I'm dissatisfied with what I found in our bed upon arrival. My husband bought me here as a surprise for 2 nights on my birthday so this upsets 😡 me even more. It proves that this room wasn't cleaned and sanitized. The manager offered a room that wasn't unsatisfactory knowing what we were not satisfied!! We chose to leave the same night and we are still waiting for a refund for something that I couldn't believe happened. CUSTOMERS TRUST your business to be clean and sanitized during this time covid19. Unhappy Customers!!

I’m not brand loyal when it comes to airlines and hotels. So take this for what it’s worth. I’m one of those guys that gets bumped to first class and sleeps like a log that’s been give succinylcholine when I get a bed I like, I don’t care what hotel I’m at.

The review below me is pretty bad. Well, the ac compressor in my room wasn’t working and now that I think about it, it wasn’t turned on when I first entered the room.

Everything else was above grade compared to Sunset inn in Boca Raton( where I saw a drug deal happen) or any super 8. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable with no springs or coils poking me and I slept soundly. It wasn’t Prana level but I woke up not sore, and more importantly I got free toothpaste after TSA confiscated mine.

You have to ask for the coffee machine probably because they had breakfast, I didn’t go for it so I have no idea if it was fresh or not. Parking was easy and the location is perfect. There’s no phone but in this day and age, it’s really not needed.

There was easy access to a plug right next to the bed and one for the iron inside the bathroom. The curtains didn’t do a great job of the masking the sunrise, (everything here is an hour early for me). I don’t watch tv so no comment there. I do smoke and they provided a smoke pot just outside unlike other hotels that’ll send you clear to the next building.

No mold in the shower stall. The temp control wasn’t reversed like a hotel I’ve been to. There was soap and adequate amounts of conditioner and shampoo. Not enough towels? Some hotels have like 12 of different sizes and these guys had 4 or so.

Would I stay here again? If it was my own money, not yet. If somebody else is paying, probably. Only because I want to know what else is in the area if I need to come back to this region repeatedly. Otherwise the things that are most important to me are close by and I met some great folks. Yes I’d stay here...

Our family of three including my husband, our adult son and I checked in on 08/19/2021. The room 112 was spacious with 2 queen beds and pull-out sofa so everyone got his own bed. Around 2 am, my husband woke me up to show red itchy bumps all over his body. We checked his bed, and found bed bugs running on his sheets. I took the photos of the bugs, and their bites on my husband's body. My husband and son immediately went to the front desk to report the incident. Larry, the person at the desk, suggested that we could either check out now or move to another room. At 2 am, checking out and search for a new accommodation was not a good option for us, so we moved to the room 120, Needless to say, we had to remove all the sheets to make sure there are no bed bugs in the new room, and we could not sleep after we remade our beds. The next morning, I went to the bathroom in the room 120, and found lots of black mold above the tub and spider web inside the tub, so we had to move again just to be able to take a shower and rest. Larry at the front desk gave us the email and name of the hotel manager, and suggested that he submitted the report to manager, and the manager was going to call the specialists to investigate the bed bug situation. He suggested that the hotel is going to contact us at the beginning of next week, and reimburse us for at least one night stay pending the results of the investigation. We never got a phone call or email from the hotel. I sent two emails to manager and front desk, but they did not even bother to reply. This is the worst experience I ever had with staying at a hotel, and we travel a lot. We stayed at this hotel on one other occasion before the Covid-19 pandemic, and did not experience the problems before. We will never stay in this hotel again. My husband developed an allergic reaction to the bed bugs, and still taking medication and...

Awful hotel. Checked in on Thanksgiving day. There were no cars in the parking lot, which should have been our first clue. Exterior was run down. Lobby was cluttered, run down, and just really bad. Checked into our room and was instantly hit with the strong musty smell. The room was spacious. But the lighting was extremely dim, the furnishings very, very old, and the bed linens and bath towels were all stained. Worse was the bathroom—dingy, dirty, and dead bugs in the tub. We immediately called a nearby Holiday Inn Express to book a room and left. When I went to turn in our keys, the individual at the front desk said because I’d already checked in there was nothing he could do and a manager would have to help me, but there wasn’t a manager there. Was told the manager would be there later that day and would call me. No one called me, but my credit card was charged $345.15!!!!! I called the following day, and the woman who answered the phone immediately knew who I was and what room # I’d been given the day before, I could hear a man feeding her information in the background. She said there was nothing she could do and had no explanation for the enormous fee charged to my credit card. All she could say is that only a manager could do something and that there was no manager there (again). She said “My money wasn’t going anywhere?!” and that a manager would call me tomorrow. Clearly this is their scam. DO NOT BOOK...
