This could honestly be the worst Chinese food that I've ever had in my entire life. And yes we're talking about American Chinese food. I got the general general tso's chicken. It had no flavor at all. It was soupy in other words really thin no sense of Ginger flavor or honestly any flavor other than oyster sauce. For some reason they put carrots onions and green pepper in it and I have no idea why. General Tso's chicken although not being traditional actual Chinese is a recipe by a famous Chinese chef and I encourage you to look it up on your favorite search engine. It's deep fried chicken with a rich barbecue-ish sauce and broccoli. I've never seen a version with carrots and the thing with putting carrots in it is you need to saute those before you put everything else in the wok because as you know it takes only a few seconds to stir everything up in the walk and combine the ingredients. I asked for my extra spicy so what they did was added dried red peppers cut into large pieces. Okay here's the problem with that... The heat comes from the seeds and pith inside the pepper. when you dry them out and then cut them up all the seeds and the hot stuff ends up on your counter that you probably just throw on the floor for the rats to eat. Even if there's any spice left in the pepper or if we're even lucky some flavor the problem is it's dehydrated and again you would need to reconstitute that prior to throwing it in the wok for 30 seconds. I could make a better general Tso's chicken in my college dorm room when I was 18 years old. This place is absolut pathetic overpriced garbage. Again the worst American Chinese food that I've ever had in my life. And don't even get me started on actual Chinese food because this place wouldn't even be in the running... Oh crap and before I go I got to mention the egg roll. I've never seen a smaller more shriveled wet egg roll in my life. There were no fillings. It was an absolute embarrassment to be honest. And they give you some type of sauce it's red I'm not sure if it's supposed to be plum sauce but it certainly is not and does not taste like plum sauce. Again it's some BS that they pour out of a gallon container into little cups which is loaded with chemicals and additives and preservatives. real plum sauce is not hard to make. At the end of the day no filling, no flavors in either the entree or the egg roll and for over $20 that is absolutely insane. 0 out of 100 and will never ever ever...
Read moreThank you Tom and Brian for bringing the tradition of Yen Ching back to the Milwaukee area! We started enjoying the dishes that made the restaurant famous 30 years ago, and since our 26 year old daughter is getting married this April- of course we called on Yen Ching Express for the wedding shower! Tom, you told me you and Brian would make it happen and you delivered on that promise. Brian, you and Dan knocked it out of the park yesterday. We had several guests with known dietary restrictions and you accommodated those with what looked like the greatest of ease. The food was all fresh, hot and delicious, with some of the dishes even prepared on site- and the service was first class all the way! Our guests raved about the food, from those who had never tasted it before, to those who had been missing these familiar flavors for many years. With favorites like Cashew Chicken to Crab Rangoon, you made our party such a happy event. Best of all though, you made our daughter and future son-in-law the happiest! We cannot thank you enough- Yen Ching Express is a class act through and through and we wish you continued success and many more catering events in your future! Greg and...
Read moreGood food, a little pricy, seating and customer service not great. Willing to try again.
A handful of high top stools for inside seating and 2-3 tables under umbrella outside. Cashier said he would call us when food was ready. He did not or bring orders to the two parties sitting outside. Took 15 minutes to get one entrée. Should take a customer cell phone number to let them know when their food is ready if they are sitting outside. $27 for one large / dinner entrée, one order of potstickers, and one can of soda. Food was so hot it had to sit for 10 mins before adult could eat it. Provided only a fork. Serves meals only as an entrée format. Food is made only after ordering, but I would rather have an option for a combination plate and better internal seating options for eating. Lunch mate liked his sesame shrimp. Better customer service would...
