Sadly I wish I had a good review to write. I was very excited to see a Tropical Smoothie Cafe coming to Mequon. I saw an advertisement on a sponsored Facebook ad that grand opening is Saturday April 22nd at 7am, first 50 customers to enter get smoothies free for a year. My group was there at 4:20 am ready to wait. 7am comes around and the doors didnāt open. We waited. 7:15am comes around and still locked and no communication from the staff. 7:20 we knocked on the window with the flyer pulled up on our phones and Steve came to the door, pointed at the 8am hours of operation sign. We showed our phones to him through the door pointing at the advertisement that states doors open at 7am and he laughed and walked away. I reached out to the corporate number and spoke to a representative that stated he was not able to contact the Mequon store and clarify our concerns. Shortly after Steve walked away he came back and unlocked the door. You would think after having us all wait outside for an extra unexplained half hour we would get a āsorry for the miscommunicationā but instead we got nothing. We all started to come into the store and were welcomed by Kayla checking us out at the register (Kayla was very kind). Steve stood on the prep line and answered some questions from customers. He explained that the free smoothies were once a week for one year. Some customers said they did not realize it was once a week and not daily (the advertisement did not specify and of course we are grateful for a free smoothie regardless of the quantity) I had asked about why the doors were not opened at 7am and I was told by Steve that I was ungrateful. To say I am disappointed by the lack of communication and respect is an understatement. This grand opening did not live up to what was advertised. Not only did the doors not open at 7am but we were also not offered a way to enter into a drawing for an Apple Watch nor were we offered to spin a wheel like the sponsored Facebook ad stated. I work across the street, so I almost always come during my lunch break, but this will be the last time coming here unfortunately. I ordered an Island punch smoothie, and it looked unusual as when I always order. It also tasted washed out. I also ordered a Chipotle chicken flatbread and as the side I had ordered a Kale salad. Kale salad did not look appetizing this time. It looked like it had been sitting out and refrigerated again. As I was waiting for my food it looked like the young ladies taking orders also are also making smoothies and one of them did not wash their hands after another customer paid in cash. On top of that I had to wait almost 15 min for my food, until I asked the girl up front. She laughed at my face when I asked her if they had called my name because my food had been sitting there and they never attempted to call my name. There were only a few customers waiting. Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn the past Iāve always had pretty good experiences with other Tropical Smoothie locations. I left this location a few minutes ago on a late Sunday morning. This location is definitely in need of new management or ownership. Employees were openly discussing how other employees had quit earlier in the morning, employees that were working were way behind on orders and just laughing about it while one employee was having a discussion on his cell phone. We used the online order ahead for pick up and place the order approximately 10 minutes before arriving. Upon arriving, the staff was not aware we had placed an order until they checked their incoming orders and saw that the order had been placed. They apologize and started the order but picked up a dirty blender Cup to use on our order. I questioned the staff about this and they stated it was clean even though it definitely was not. Another employee walked in and picked up a long stack of orders off the floor then was just laughing about how far behind they were but didnāt really offer any additional help.
