Coconut Cafe — Restaurant in Merced

Horrible customer service, my husband and I drove 25 minutes to eat at this restaurant. We went inside and waited 5 minutes for the lady at the counter because a person needed to pay. She then said we’re only doing take out orders and it was 7:55pm when she said this but it’s advertised the restaurant closes @ 8:30pm, keep in mind it’s on a Friday night.And then we said “well there’s over 40 people here and half of them are not served”. It’s just me and my husband. We already told them we drove 25minutes so we are not getting take out can you just serve us. The person in charge said “the kitchen said no” but isn’t the kitchen the ones cooking the food? Then we asked for the manager or owner and they said they do no give out that information. We mentioned we were going to leave a bad review and the lady said “fine then do so”. Hours are hours we got there 40 minutes before the restaurant closes and we’re only two people . None of this makes sense, your employees just don’t want to work. I would’ve given 0 stars...

I previously did a review about a year ago; I needed to update it as the place has gone down hill. The food is inconsistent, it's hard to get through on the phone and the service has become trash. They used to be so friendly and caring, idk what happened or what is different now. Tonight I ordered food for my family. My son went to pick it up and when he got home it was the wrong food. They told me if I wanted my order I'd have to keep what we have and come back to pay for the correct order. That doesn't even make sense. We couldn't even eat the food that we had possession of. Make it make sense; lose a long time customer and waster or give away such a large order. They bc outpace taken the food back and thrown it away or applied the cost of that food towards ours. We used to go 2-3 times per month, now we go every few months because the food and service changed. Now we won't ever return....

This is my new favorite Asian cuisine restaurant. So far I've only had 5 items from the menu, in 4 visits, but every thing is delicious. Highly recommend.

I've been eating here nearly every week now for a year. Still The best in town.

Update: 10/1/24 I have since been back multiple times, and everything is delicious. The best combination pho I've ever had. ( better than mr. pho restaurant chain). Delicious chicken Chow mein, House salad is special, egg rolls are the best, spring rolls are good, fried prawns are amazing, pineapple rice is my wife's favorite. even the iced tea is good. I have never been...
