I just decided I wanted to order pizza and since Me and Ed’s is right across the street and maybe a 2 minute walk, you’d think it would be my go to pizza place. Nope. Around 2007-2008 I placed an order for a group of us to be delivered to my place of employment in the late evening. The order arrived but I didn’t have a chance to sit down and eat until later. When I did, my order had not been included with everyone else. It was only a $10 personal pizza. They somehow forgot it. Since there were only four employees and a closed business, I was sure no one took it. After calling the restaurant and speaking to the guy in charge who identified himself as management, he would not refund my $ and only offered to replace my item because I didn’t have my receipt. It had gotten thrown away in one of the many dirty trash cans. I worked at a 24 hr vet and digging through the trash cans wasn’t an option. It was highly unsanitary. I don’t understand why he couldn’t just check his receipts? I know he had a copy of the order. He was arrogantly rude and unwilling to make it right. I wasn’t asking for a free meal. Just to be refunded for what I’d paid for and did not receive. Because I wasn’t getting off work until after 12am, I really didn’t have a need for the pizza because I could then eat at home. Besides, they’d be closed after midnight and I couldn’t just leave work immediately and go pick it up. And what did I need a pizza for the next day especially when I wasn’t working? Of course no one bothered to suggest bringing me what they left out as a courtesy even though it was only 3 miles away on the same street. They were still open when I’d initially called too. So even though they’re across the street, I’d still rather pay for delivery from some other pizza place because I can’t be sure that if there’s an issue, Me and Eds will make it right. I’d never had problems before or since at any pizza place. It’s been over 15 years that I (and my family) could be giving our weekly pizza order $ to Me and Eds. But because of a small issue that was THEIR fault and the terribly obnoxious attitude of the (obviously by the smell) chain smoking manager whom doesn’t understand that wearing shoes w holes that are barely held together by glue is a very bad look for an employee let alone store manager, they’ve lost my business forever. If he can afford smokes, gas and a car, he can get a new pair of $40 chucks. This place has very bad customer service. For some, where and to whom they give their $ doesn’t matter but to me, it does. As for the food: The pizza isn’t anything special but not the worst in the area either. They could put a little more cheese because it’s a little under par as far as the amount before paying more for extra and after. I thought the pizzas were consistently on the dry side and they’re extremely light on the toppings even when you pay for extra. Also, the sauce needs to be spread all over the pizza an inch or so from the outside, not 3-4. That’s too much dry bread. And no one wants the majority of their toppings dropped in the middle of the pizza instead of spread all over and all the way to the crust. Take your chance w Me and Eds if you want but here I go ordering elsewhere once again. What does it say that I’m willing to pay for delivery through another pizza place instead of just walking 2 minutes to pick up an order? I think this place is now independently franchised so there’s no corporate to call. They’ll just refer you to the manger and you’re back to not getting any resolution for your issue. Tbh, the truth is because they can and not suffer consequences but to lose your business, they don’t care about...
Read moreThe one who runs this establishment here in Merced, I first met when I lived in Monterey when I was attending a state police academy. I used to eat at the me n Ed’s off broadway in Seaside and this guy ran that whole operation. I would see him every time I went there working hard and polite. Was funny when I ordered a pizza when I was in Merced about 3 years later when I relocated, he came to deliver the pizza and he “refused” the tip I wanted to give. We had a short convo about “I’ve seen you before” he ended up also leaving Seaside or the Central coast because of high lease payments for the business and no profits and assuming position in Merced relocating. Small world I guess, say what you want about this Me n Ed’s in Merced but the guy who was running Seaside is now in the Merced location. he puts his heart and soul into working for it and I’ve seen it first hand here and before in Seaside. I’m not on a personal level knowing his name with the man but I can say this he works hard and he is in the middle of the operation as a hard worker not some boss sitting back collecting a paycheck off the back of employees. All the times in Seaside or Merced ordering pizza I never had one issue at all. Wish and hope for success in his location here in Merced and I highly recommend. Ordered pizza tonight and once again saw him and one other employee doing their best....
Read moreMe-N-Ed's Merced was good, in the past. We really liked the hot Italian sandwich, which was the closest thing to the good old days of the Grinder from Lenny's Italian Restaurant. But, this past year, each time we've ordered anything from Me-N-Ed's it's gotten progressively worse. We've received the following excuses during our order: "We're out of salami", or "We're out of focaccia", or "We're out of Ciabatta". When we do receive our order, it's been cold (we had to grill our sandwich ourselves), or the chips are missing, or it looks more like a vegetarian sandwich (as is what happened with our last order). We understand that sometimes people are having bad days, but poor quality is becoming the norm rather than the exception with this restaurant. We always order for delivery, we don't live far from their shop, and we're very generous tippers. It's too bad because, on those hectic days, it's really convenient to have a nice Italian sandwich delivered for dinner. Anyone know where we can get one, because Me-N-Ed's doesn't seem to be able to handle the...
