I didn’t plan to be seduced. I only wanted something quick — hot, easy, dripping with sauce. But when I slipped into Illiano's, I knew I wouldn’t be walking out the same. The lights were low. The oven roared. And the scent — dear God, the scent — it hit me like a kiss on the neck: smoke, spice, and something sinful rising from the dough. The pizza — thick crust, blistered and golden, begging to be touched. I spread it open, felt the steam on my lips, the cheese stretching like silk between parted mouths. I bit down. It groaned. The sauce was sweet, then sharp — a slap and a kiss. But the lobster ravioli — that was pure sin. Pillows of pasta stuffed full of tender, ocean-sweet flesh, soaked in a butter sauce so rich it practically dripped through my lips. Hands down the best meat that has ever devoured my mouth. No shame. None at all. I would’ve begged for more, on my knees, if the waitresses had asked. And when I thought I could take no more — that my body had reached its limits — they brought the chocolate cake. Dense. Dark. Moist. It came chilled, slightly cold as if it had arrived to put out the fire burning deep inside me. I sank my fork into it and watched the center spread out, slow and sticky. The first taste coated my tongue with passion. The second? A full-body shudder.

Five stars. I came for a slice. I left in pieces. I didn’t just eat. I was fed,...

I work at a hospital. Every day we are at this location we order an hour and a half earlier (literally) than our lunch hour. We have to travel to different offices during our lunch break. This delivery is ALWAYS later than the time THEY say it’ll be delivered. We have to wait around at the office for the delivery of the order we put in 1.5 hours ago, clocked out, and cut our lunch short. They NEVER deliver on time and the hospital is down the street from them so I have no idea why it takes over and hour and a half to get food. I have to call every time we order to see where the heck they are. Our doctors, PA’s and staff have to take a shorter lunch because they never come when they say they’re coming. It’s ridiculous.

Adding: the food (that was ordered at 10:30) was finally delivered at 12:10, after all of our lunch break was over. And when you call and tell them this is ridiculous and frustrating, they just sorry you to death. I asked them to call the driver twice in an 20 minute time span to see what’s going on and they told me “well he left the restaurant so he’ll be there soon!” And when talking to the delivery driving when he finally showed up he says “I’m just the driver.”

So anyway, unless you have 2 hours to wait around for the food, don’t order for delivery. Food is not that good to be...

I've been a fan and loyal customer of Illianos restaurants for years from when I lived in Middletown, Norwich, and now meriden.

This particular restaurant has gone completely down hill. It is now serving the same skimpy product as the store on rt 66 which I stopped patronizing years ago because of how skimpy and overpriced they are.

I ate in the restaurant and ordered a 2 topping pizza the other day, and there were more bare spots than the front lawn of a round-up factory.

The dough was tougher than the beef jerky I left sitting on my dash last night in 20 degree cold.

The owner seems to be completely absent now, and perhaps that's a big part of the problem. It might be a good idea to take a page from the book of Vinchenzo in the Norwich location, he is a truly great pizza piezon, there every time I go in, product is always perfect, it's a little higher priced but you are getting what you pay for. Not like this place.

So I think I'm done with this location for good, I've given it like 4 chances but it's clear to me now that this skimpyness is consistent and standard procedure.

I hope they are saving a lot of money on toppings to make up for losing a customer.

It's too bad too because the staff there is really nice. They are also losing when...

We were driving to Maine to stay with friends, stopped in Meriden just for the night. Scanned reviews and Illianos have many positive ones. We ate in on a Saturday night, had the place to ourselves, guess locals eat early or aren't comfortable dining in yet. We ordered the Verdolini Pie - "according to the menu description "toppings" go down first. Then sliced Mozzarella. Topped with a special Marinara sauce, EVOO, seasoning, basil and Parmigiano cheese... The Verdolini is an inspired pizza from an old famous restaurant in Meriden CT. Sadly the restaurant closed in 1992 due to a flood. The Verdolini pizza is a recreation based on dozens of customers descriptions and feedback." Seemed a unique sort of pie so we ordered it (pictured below). Amazing pizza! Loved it. The wonderful staff offered us each a complimentary slice of the "Big Mac" pizza, which was also delicious. Lots of takeout happened while we were there, and the buffalo chicken pizza seemed a popular choice. Decent beer and wine selections as well. The dining area has a fun decor. Staff are friendly and engaging. Especially Marie, she was amazing. If we are ever in this area again, I know where we'll be eating.

Meriden doesn’t have “Great” pizza. I hate to say it as a native. If you want “Great” pizza you have to go to New Haven or maybe even Norwalk. I ordered: Grandma Pizza An old fashion style square pan pizza with a medium thick crust. Sliced mozzarella is placed on the dough first, then topped with marinara sauce, garlic and oil, seasoning, basil, and parmigiana cheese. The pizza here isn’t bad. I should have tried a traditional cheese slice. The flavor was there but not enough cheese. I love the prominent garlic. The poor waitress was also the front desk person and couldn’t balance and juggle all the customers/orders. I’ll be back and hope to change the rating upon that visit. (I took it home added more cheese and that improved it. However the cheese was suppose to be at the bottom so I ruined it on a sense) * this is not Sicilian
