The food was just OK. The service was pretty bad.
The Chef's Choice Sushi was ordered by my husband. He said he would not order it again. One piece of raw fish tasted "not very good" during the meal.
I ordered a mushroom roll and avocado roll. They have a very small vegetarian roll section on the menu. I am vegan, so I am even more limited in choices. (No dairy or eggs.)
The cheap salad they serve before entrees come out was gross. Tasteless iceburg lettuce and ginger dressing. That's it. The dressing has changed since last visit. My husband said it's more sweet and less ginger flavor. I could not eat it, because it contains milk.
My two rolls came out to the table and the waitress said my husband's food would be out in a minute. Over 5 minutes later, still no Chef's Choice dish! I only ate two pieces and was trying to wait for his food to show up. So we could eat together, like its supposed to be brought out: together. This really made me mad. We were looking around for her, to ask were it was. She came over and said "sorry, they are working on it." If I had not stopped eating, my food would have been all gone by the time he got his. This was the kitchen's fault, but a good waitress knows to bring the food all together. The kitchen staff should know how to time foods better!!
Note to those with PERFUME SENSITIVITY: the women's restroom has a super strong air freshener in there. It makes me almost gag! Has always been this way here. I don't like it.
We are not going back. It has gone downhill...
Read moreUpdate: I used to really like this restaurant, but I probably will not return after today 10/23/22. This is the 3 time my food wasn't right. First 2 times, I just let it go, figuring those were rare occurrences. Anyhow, I ordered the chicken teppanyaki, 1 California roll and 1 monsoon roll for pick up and tipped. They're seriously skimping on portions and being careless lately preparing food.
There was hardly any white rice (approx ½ cup serving) included with the ($14) Teppanyaki meal. The wasabi that comes with the rolls seemed stale, there were 2 slivers of pickled ginger which seemed stale, also. As a matter of fact, the Wasabi and ginger seemed as if it had been taken off a previous dinners plate, but I don't know that for a fact.
The ($10) monsoon roll was made improperly- it was a roll with only avocado and cucumber topped with a slice of kiwi, (no mango)and the roll itself was partially sliced, so I had to deal with trying to eat a much longer awkward sized piece.
The ($6.50) California roll had no crab stick. Their prices are too high for playing these types of games. The restaurant was hardly occupied when I went in, so I'm not sure what was up. Needless to say, after 10 years of coming here, I will spend my...
Read moreEdit: Kinda sad to edit my 3 year old review to say this, but the consistency at this place has become so hit-and-miss. Their sushi used to be great and my wife and I have typically stopped in one or two times a month since getting married in 2020. But the last few times we have gone the sushi has really been sub-par. Yesterday in particular the rice was just so unappetizingly dense, the sushi didn't taste fresh, and when we mentioned this to the waitress, she really didn't do anything other than just say "oh yeah, there are some new sushi chefs training, hopefully they'll be better in a month or two". We just got sushi at Sushi Moto in West Lansing last week and it absolutely blew what we got at AI Fusion out of the water in terms of quality for about the same price. The 25% discounts on Monday are still nice but it's not enough to make up for subpar food. I hope they eventually get their practices nailed down again but I suspect it'll be a while before we stop back in, and I'm adjusting my rating down to three stars.
Food here is usually always on point. Monday 25% discount + Hello Kitty = a huge portion of fairly priced, well made sushi and we always end up...
