Saroki's Crispy Chicken & Pizza — Restaurant in Meridian Charter Township

Disappointed. They were very hyped, and I was excited to try them out. First attempt, they all but begged us not to bother as they were swamped. Ok, I can get that they are getting a lot of people checking out the new place. Tried again ordered online this time. Well, still had a significant wait picking up. Ordered chicken, biscuits, corn on the cob, mac and cheese and Saroki fries. The fries were good, probably the highlight of the meal. Chicken was ok, kind of over cooked and the breading was heavy, guess that's crispy? Also batter was fairly heavily seasoned, but mostly just black pepper coming through, no balance, no complexity. So chicken was a let-down. They forgot the biscuits, so I can't speak to if they are good or not. The corn on the cob, was absolutely not what I'd expected. It's just cobettes dunked in the same batter and fried. So unfortunately the corn itself just steams inside the breading which is only so so, very sad dish IMO. The mac and cheese were ok, but basically what you'd get from Meijer/Kroger deli counter.

I had never tried this place despite it being open for quite some time. It was close to closing for the night and I noticed there was still someone in line. When I approached and let the gentleman working know that I had never eaten there, he let me know that they couldn’t make me anything by request as they were closing up shop for the night. He pointed at the warm food they had left over and asked me if I was interested in anything they had available. I asked for one of everything and when I had asked how much the kind man said that since it was my first time, that it was on the house and that he’d hoped I’d come back again. After trying the food I have to say I’m shocked. This was the juiciest chicken I’ve ever eaten (and I eat A LOT of chicken). Their mix of Cajun spices and seasonings does laps around any other generic franchise I’ve eaten at. I didn’t even try their sauces! I would highly recommend this place, and I haven’t even tried their other choices besides their chicken. The only complaint I have is that they deserve their own building and to not be located inside of a gas station...

Decent at best chicken if you like your chicken really greasy. Mashed potatoes were drowned in obviously canned brown gravy.

The tenders were ok but unnecessarily spicy. Potato wedges were under seasoned.

Best part was the woefully inept management. The online order accepted a coupon code but didn’t apply it. The great response “the app is wonky, too bad, will tell higher ups, too bad”. So basically was told you don’t matter as a customer. We don’t want your business.

By time I got to car bags were a greasy mess.

I hoped the food would offset the bad customer experience because we like supporting local restaurants. Unfortunately the food was worse than customer service.

Not a great look for a new business. Should have gone to Henry’s place or Raising Cane’s.
