I had never heard of Maddie’s until I was invited there by a local musician who had been hired to play a 3-hour set this past Wednesday. I’d seen Fabulous Floyd Stanton perform last fall at another restaurant when I was there with a friend, and we enjoyed it so much, we spoke with him afterwards to thank him. I have since been following his Facebook page to keep up on his local gigs. Happy that he would be playing again, I invited a friend to Maddie’s with me, and we were really looking forward to enjoying a nice evening catching up. The parking lot was full and I had to park in an area I wasn’t sure I was supposed to be. The building was beautiful, and although I’m not into wine or whiskey, it was a cool atmosphere. Mr. Stanton and his music were the perfect addition to that. People were eating, drinking, and enjoying themselves. Thirty minutes into what was supposed to be a three hour set, the musician was pulled aside, told that the patrons weren’t into his music, and asked to leave. I’m not sure where anyone was getting this information. No one we spoke with was asked how they felt about the music, which was wonderful, by the way. People had only continued to come into the establishment during his set. I saw no one leave, and no one appeared to be having anything but a good time. Most of the tables were full. In fact, a majority of the people there were specifically there to hear Mr. Stanton play. Although I’m sure his feelings were hurt, he was very kind about what was said to him, but asked if he could continue playing without pay since so many of his friends had come out to see him. They declined, telling him to pack up everything he’d spent time setting up, including his drum set, and leave. After learning that he was done playing, over half the people there left the establishment. One friend was so upset by what had happened, she was crying. After Mr. Stanton stopped playing, terrible radio music that did not at all fit the vibe of the restaurant began playing through the speakers. I take time to write reviews when I’m either very impressed by a place, or if there’s a reason I think people should know what kind of place it is. Although the one drink I had was amazing and the server was kind, there is no way I’ll be returning to Maddie’s. That’s not how a business should be run. If they didn’t like the vibe of the music, they could have just not asked him back. It wasn’t as if they were losing business because of the musician they’d hired for those thirty minutes—in fact, it was quite the opposite. I sincerely hope Mr. Stanton was at the very least paid for the entire three hour set he was hired for. After how he was treated, I feel he is also owed a huge apology. When I first walked into Maddie’s, I thought that it would be a fun new place to tell my friends about. I’ll now be telling my friends all about Maddie’s for a different...
Read moreLooking from the road, the place it looks inviting. The scent of food is pleasant. Once you're inside there are two forms of music is fighting against each other. I can understand what the person was trying to achieve. That the inside and outside is supposed to be different from each other. It does not work at all as one is too loud and overpowering the outside music. When being sat outside it was a beautiful rustic theme that was creative with whiskey and wine barrels. The beautiful fountain that should draw the attention is blocked by a gazebo. The gazebo and furniture in it are an eyesore. It's out of place is a red couch with other random chairs has a white gazebo that located in front of the beautiful fountain. It blocked the view of the fountain which was very sad. Something amazing being hidden by something ugly. The theme of the outside was understood but the random plastic chair in the two colors wasn't close to the theme. We got our drinks when the guy waiter was very pleasant. We got ice tea then lemonade and the alcoholic drink whoo girl. Let's talk about the sugar packets that was delivered to the table opening it looked like the sugar packets got wet then sat in a damp corner too long. The sugar that came out was very weird going into the drink. The food came out which I got carne flatbread which it was burnt on the bottom of the bread. There was no seasoning on the dish very blan. I assumed for the prices of the meal it would be something delicious. Tho I had three bits that I was debating if I really cared to finish it not cause it tasted horrible cause it tasted like nothing special and had no taste something I could made this by my self. The second dish we received was brisket sandwich with fries. The brisket by itself at the start is tender and delicious. Having all the ingredients together wasn't sure what I thought at first but more I ate it my stomach was trying to fight back at me.
This place is better for the drinks rather...
Read moreThis is strike 2 for Maddies. I am from out of town. I have family here and my sister really loves the live music and churro fries
The first time we went was in December and the had a very nice warm patio that was covered with a tarp with a nice warm fire place.
Ive worked in all kinds of restaurants from fast food all the way up to fine dining. Something about our table was wrong in their system because every single time we had a food runner pass a table with our food and drink. It was too loud to flag them down so we had to like SOS signal pretty much anytime for our food and drinks. Service was slow which I get it it was a busy night but the cover band was great. The food was nothing to write home about. The atmosphere was alright. But a server spent like 10 minutes talking to a table when we were ready for a check they could've balanced it out better.
Im in town and lastnight I decided to give it another go. It was packed so the hostess recommended the sports bar. Her exact words were "its super quiet back there"
That was a LIE it was packed and we sat a table. Behind us were 8 fools SCREAMING about an uno game they were playing. Im not an old lady, I go to concerts, sporting events, I cheer and scream at these events but these fools were blowing out our ear drums for real. On top of that gangam style was loudly playing in the background. We sat at table and no one came up to us maybe we were supposed to go to the bar. Idk. We went to ling and louies instead and it was idyllic compared to whatever maddies has going on
I will not be returning. I am going out of my way to recommend people to spend their...
