The Customer Service and atmosphere are great, I cannot recommend repairs and mods though. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable about regarfing video games and consoles, and face a very friendly attitude towards every customer. The layout of the store is neat and sectioned, and they have titles I haven't seen in so many years. Their display cases are clean and organized. Regarding Repairs and Mods, and this is a review I've had to think about for a solid several months, I cannot recommend. I went in for a Gamecube Mod and Repair costing me ~€$200, there was no itemization for the changes ($70 laser fix and $130 HDMI Mod). This was confirmed by the store owner who did not remember what all the charges were ony receipt when I returned when a faulty laser. They also did hand back the GameCube to me without checking the status of the Lid Button, it was jammed, thankfully I noticed this in the store and they promptly took care of it. The last time a brought the GameCube unit to them I had typed up a crash log over an hour to help diagnostic testing, educated was ignored. I decided to part ways with them after a final (5th time) bringing my GameCube unit back and telling them to take their time fixing it, the owner said he would call me later that day. I texted him the Saturday of that week, and called two weeks out from that date, both to no response. I came in at the 3 week point after leaving my unit to no response and they had focused they're attention to trades and my unit was in the back of their shop in the corner. I decided to take my unit back (and it is still faulty to this day) due to how the situation was handled and there being no record of my Laser Repair on my receipt due to how their receipt system is structured. In short, I cannot recommend their repair service due to lack of communication, lack of itemization on transactions, and what seemed to be quick bandaid attempts to fix a product that never really got fixed.
This is review over a period of several months with a dozen plus visits and hours spent trying to make this Gamecube HDMI Mod and Fix work. Great store, I would recommend trade-ins and...
Read moreMaking a new review as I have been a customer for over 5 years now and my opinions have changed. First of all, great selection of games at very good prices. I've always been able to get certain games at a steal and that fact makes it one of my go tos for games. But when it comes to repairs and helpful knowledge about consoles and certain things, I really do not recommend. I first got a repair done around a year and a half ago for a broken ps4 hdmi. It worked for almost a year but eventually gave out again. The price was around 130 dollars and it was not worth it and seemed pretty shoddy. Not to mention the warranty ran out before I could do anything about it. Most recently I came in to try and get a faulty dreamcast repaired. I did my best to research what the issue could be so I could help the problem be diagnosed as easy as possible and it came down to either the power supply or the disc drive. I explained the situation to the owner, Luke and he gave me an absurd quote of "at least 150$ repair." He did not even bother to open the unit which is held together by 4 screws or try to really diagnose the true issue. he then gave me extremely inaccurate and unhelpful information, saying that he would 100% need to do solder work and that replacement dreamcast parts don't come easy. Ultimately I decided to leave and felt something was off. I did my own research and found out the quote he gave me was absolutely absurd and that 150$ for the work needed to fix was way too high. I understand there's service fee but just hear me out. The dreamcast is a completely modular system. Every part can be unscrewed and replaced with minimal effort including the power supply. Ultimately I bought a replacement OEM power supply and installed it in under 30 minutes for 15 dollars and it works flawlessly now. I'm very disappointed with how Luke handles his repairs and do not recommend you get any piece of hardware fixed here. The games are good, repairs...
Read moreThis is my second review of this game store.
My old review shares many of the same points, which can be summarised as such: This game store rivals (and even sometimes surpasses) it's competition in Nampa, Caldwell, and Boise due to fair pricing and product quality. The reason I am re-reviewing this location is simply due to the nature of changes in the store itself. Namely, as of recently, this store has stopped (or at least severely cut back on) working on handhelds to the point where trade-ins for damaged systems aren't present, regardless of overall system quality. Furthermore, even as a service, they have stopped repairing several parts of (if not the entirety) of (at least some) handheld systems. (System prices have also increased a noticeable amount, but that could simply be associated with rising business costs and/or the state of the economy, and as such it is an unfair criticism to levy.)
The reason this hurts so much is because they were, to the best of my knowledge, the only store in the entire Treasure Valley with the niche of working on handhelds. Losing that means losing a huge factor that made them, more or less, superior to every competitor they have, while leaving behind a very desirable service that nobody else could provide (to my knowledge). Handheld systems, by nature, are much more destructible and as such the presence of a business who, regardless of cost, could repair them makes living and shopping in the Treasure Valley more worthwhile, all by itself.
It is understandable why these services were cut, but that doesn't change the fact that this business is unfortunately not nearly as favourable as it once was, now only standing side-by-side with it's competition instead of...
