Food gets a five star. However, the service and health code violation gets a zero star and I will never return.
I love five guys. However, I came here on 3/24/14 at 8:15pm. I ordered my usual burger, but instead of looking at my phone, I watched them cook the food out of boredom. I stood at the counter and watched as the cook pried apart raw hamburger meat with his plastic gloves and put them on the grill. So far, so good. Then I watched him walk around the kitchen and touch handles to everything else such as the fries. Kind of gross, but still, whatever.
Then I watched him put my finished burger on the spatula, carry it to my burger, and push it onto the bun with the same gloves he never changed. I was pretty disgusted, but I thought things like this can happen and I've eaten street food in foreign countries before.
As I was walking out, I saw him finish putting new hamburger meat on the grill and then touch hamburger buns. He never once changed his gloves. I brought it to the manager's attention and he was defensive right away: "That would be a serious health code violation." I agreed and explained what happened. They recooked my food and the cook changed gloves every time. I will not come back here.
I have yet to submit this health code violation to Arlington County but I plan to do so on Monday 3/31/14 when...
Read moreTerrible service and the staff didn't care. The woman at the register didn't seem to understand english or the order. Immediately after ordering, I went to the restroom. I returned and checked the counter to see if my number had been called. No bag of food was on the counter. My number was 34. I then hear a call for 36. I assume the person's order was easier or faster to prepare. The person doesn't go the counter for their food but they continue to call out the number periodically. I get tired of waiting and go the counter to ask . They pull my bag of food off a shelf. I asked why they didn't call the number or leave the bag on the counter so I would know it was called and grab it. They looked at me blankly and literally starred at me, never offering an apology or anything. So rude. Honestly, pathetic service at...
Read moreBefore I tapped my card I asked the cashier if I could split my payment between two cards. Total came out to $2 more than what I had on my first card. 3x I tried tapping and kept getting declined. Each time I asked the cashier again and again if I could split the payment. He kept saying yes, rolling his eyes, until I explained what I meant by split, then he said no. I didn’t want the food anymore and the short female manager was trying to comfort the cashier by saying “El no tienes dinero” which translates to her telling the cashier, while I was still within earshot, that I had no money. So you have managers who don’t understand what splitting a payment means and who also trash talk their customers in...
