A Flavorful Adventure: Thai Bliss and Pull Up DC Last weekend, my partner and I took a culinary journey to Thailand without leaving the cityâand wow, what a ride! This cozy little Thai gem had us feeling like we were dining in the heart of Bangkok. The experience was as authentic as it was mouthwatering, and the best part? We got to cap it off with a stop at Pull Up DC for a truly elevated evening. The menu reads like a love letter to Thailand. We started with the crispy salmon salad, and let me tell you, the balance of flavorsâsweet, spicy, and tangyâwas pure magic. The salmon was fried to perfection without a hint of dryness. For our mains, we went all out with the Drunken Noodles and crispy basil pork belly. If you like spice, this place does not play. The noodles were silky, with just the right kick of heat, while the pork belly had that perfect crisp-to-fat ratio that dreams are made of. My partner declared, âIf heaven smells like basil and pork, sign me up.â We finished with the mango sticky rice, a classic that soothed our spice-singed tongues. The mango was perfectly ripe, and the sticky rice had that irresistible, slightly sweet coconut flavor that made us sigh with happiness. The dining room is warm and inviting, with an unpretentious, homey feel that makes you want to linger. The service was as friendly as it getsâour server checked in just the right amount and gave us spot-on recommendations. You can tell they really care about their food and their guests here. After indulging in some of the best Thai food weâve had in a while, we decided to keep the good vibes rolling with a quick visit to Pull Up DC. It was the perfect way to relax and let the nightâs flavors linger a little longer. There's something about pairing great food with premium strains that makes everything tasteâand feelâjust a little...
Read moreI'm Thai, I eat spicy and I'm telling you this is the place that you should experience your Thai! They deserve their Zagat ratings. Reasonable price yet great quality non frou-frou pretentious eat! Me and my friend accidentally found that place and decided to dine there. At first we feel like bad betting because of my skeptic of Thai restaurant in a strip-mall? Hmmm.... But they have 2013 Zagat rating, it could be a good bet...
We ordered...
2x Chicken Coconut Soup Authentic taste, very good rating from my friend who is a chicken coconut soup fanatic.
Elephant Jump Salad Apple salad with a hint of roasted coconut and salad shrimp in spicy sweet lime-like sauce, well this is non-traditional but they made a perfect sense of how modern Thai cuisine should heading to. Very good.
Thai Fresh Roll or "Pohr Peah Sod" serves with bity tamarind sauce which I seldom see they serve this dish in Thai restaurant Not so authentic but still very good.
Crab meat fried rice Thai style fried rice with jumbo lump crab meat, not at all greasy and taste soooooooo good yet the price is so cheap ($13)
My friend ordered the dish that has Chicken Satay served with white rice and a side of Papaya Salad Very nice combination but the taste of papaya salad is good is typical (don't get me wrong, it taste good, but "standard" good)
Over all, bill came out about $52 (with Thai Ice-tea for drinks) which this is a feast comparing to how you can spend $52 at another Thai place with this quality.
I'm telling you this is a must-go place if you finding a good Thai. Users who said worth the trip from DC or MD are LEGIT!
PS. We never have to turn around and look for server to...
Read moreTERRIBLE dining experience with both food AND service! I would give zero stars if it were possible.
I came here for dinner with my mom. We walked in about 8:10pm and there were only two other tables in the restaurant. The first red flag shouldâve been when the waitress came over and instead of greeting us said, âum weâre closing soon soâŚâ I looked at her and said we would order quickly. Mind you, the restaurant closes at 9:30 - a full hour away.
My mom ordered a coconut spicy soup which arrived first and she said was good. I ordered chicken pad Thai which came out suspiciously quick after the soup. I took two bites of it and sent it back - it was awful! It tasted like it was cooked a day or two before and then reheated in the microwave. Burnt noodles, etc. How does a Thai place ruin pad Thai?!? Itâs a staple.
My momâs green beef curry arrived and I had a bite of hers - it seemed alright so I decided to order the same dish but with chicken.
While I was waiting on the new dish, they had the AUDACITY to bring the bill BEFORE my food!!! Red flag number 2!
Meantime, the service was extremely SLOW! We were the only ones in there at this point⌠why is it so difficult to refill waters and bring me new silverware?!?
My food came and it was decent. By this point I was so disgusted I had lost most of my appetite. Then, and I kid you not, shortly after 9pm a different lady came over and asked us to pay the bill because they were closing the cash register. Wow! I spent years in the service industry so Iâm familiar with the process but would never rush customers out during dinner hours.
This experience ruined my night out with my mom and Iâll never...
