EDIT4/14/25
Disappointing and Concerning Experience at DW Diner Back in town on business after some time away, I decided to revisit DW Diner, a place I'd enjoyed during a previous trip. Unfortunately, my recent experience indicated a significant decline in quality, sadly necessitating a much lower star rating than I would have given in the past. I ordered the classic eggs benedict with a side of blueberry pancakes. Sadly, the attentiveness of my server was lacking throughout my visit, as I wasn't even offered a coffee refill. Paying $4 for a single, small cup felt excessive. More concerning, however, was observing a couple of staff members picking up food that had fallen on the floor and then proceeding to handle plates and serve food and coffee to other customers. This raised serious hygiene concerns for me. The wait for my breakfast was reasonable, but the execution was poor. My eggs benedict sat at the pass for several minutes before my pancakes were ready, resulting in completely hard yolks and broken hollandaise sauce – a real disappointment for this dish. The accompanying hash browns were ice cold and utterly flavorless, seemingly unseasoned. The English muffins were simply untoasted. The only redeeming quality of the meal was the real maple syrup served with the blueberry pancakes. However, the pancakes themselves were incredibly dry, making each bite feel like eating paste. I've honestly never encountered such poorly made pancakes. While I understand there's an upcharge for real maple syrup and blueberries, the overall cost of my breakfast – nearly $50 before tip and after tax – felt exorbitant for the quality of food and, frankly, the concerning hygiene practices I witnessed. I regularly enjoy this same breakfast at my local diner for significantly less. Overall, my meal at DW Diner was extremely disappointing and the apparent lack of attention to basic hygiene among some staff members is deeply concerning. Based on this experience, I will not be returning on future visits to town and will be seeking out other breakfast options.
Came in today for breakfast. Overall my experience was good. A few minor complaint that I have is my server who was nice did not check on my table very often she was too busy talking to her co-workers behind the bar. Another thing is the price, the food was good but an average meal costing around $9 on average before coffee or drinks is a little high in my opinion for breakfast. But if you want a decent breakfast in this small town this is not a bad...
Read moreA Classic Diner Experience. The D.W. diner on Daniel Webster highway in Merrimack, is a classic New England diner experience. They serve up quality comfort diner food and do it with a friendly smile. I have visited many times and have tried their pancakes, waffles, French toast, and breakfast sandwiches. It's all good. My favorites are always the eggs with a side of bacon. Pick your favorite: an omelet, sunnyside, over easy, scrambled, or eggs Benedict. I really like the hash browns, they are fine shredded and done on the grill, cooked until they are nice and crispy.
They serve a nice selection of lunch items, but for me breakfast is where they really shine. The diner has a strong positive local reputation and as a result, it can be quite popular on weekend mornings during the breakfast rush. Expect at those times to have to wait a little while for a table. Better to come a little bit early or a little bit later. Weekdays at peak times are also popular but not as much as the weekends.
If you are looking for something fancy, modern or high class, this place will not impress. It's a down home, no frills atmosphere. However. if you want a solid New England style breakfast, or brunch with a cup of fresh hot coffee you can't go wrong.
There is ample free parking around the diner. There are also handicapped parking spaces available. The entrance is handicapped accessible but the doors are not automatic. The entrance is a little tight on space but after that they're more than happy to accommodate...
Read moreThe layout of this diner is odd. There are two entrances and two spots where they have "please wait to be seated" signs, but apparently they only serve people standing at one and not the other. They have a small waiting area but there isn't really a desk or anything where you can let your hostess know you're waiting for a table. Confusion could be lessened by a clearer layout.
We went in on a Sunday morning and the place was packed, so we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table which was no big deal. Got seated and put in our order and then waited over 30 minutes for our food to show up. This wouldn't have been such an annoyance had people seated after us not gotten their food within 15 minutes. Plus we were sitting right next to the counter where the kitchen was putting out food for the wait staff to grab, waitresses walked by our empty table every 2 minutes.
The food itself was decent but not spectacular. Eggs were a little underdone as were the home fries. My wife's omelette was a little under-stuffed. Pancakes were OK but very, very heavy.
All in all the place was alright but not something I'd go out of my...
