Thirsty Moose Taphouse — Restaurant in Merrimack

I hate leaving a bad reviews but this is our experience here . It was quite busy when we arrived but we were seated quickly. Our server was good throughout our time. We had never been to this place before and we had checked the reviews and thought it sounded good. My husband ordered the French onion soup and it was a small portion for the price and extremely salty Almost like the bottom of the pot. his entree was okay. He ordered the steak tip dinner. It was a bit over cooked as he had ordered it Rare and it came medium. And his broccoli was not cooked enough and almost raw But that was okay with him. As he is the type to just eat it and not complain. As for me my food was just awful I ordered a chicken quesadilla and it was strange to say the least. It didn’t taste like chicken at all. It tasted almost like greasy beef?? And iam not kidding when I say greasy!! It was cut in 4 pieces, I ate one piece and the grease from the one piece had run down my hand, arm and puddled on to the table. This was chicken and i have never seen this before. I also ordered the Mac and cheese with buffalo chicken. The Mac and cheese was absolutely awful and bland, it didn’t have any flavor at all. It tasted almost like plain pasta. Hardly any cheese or seasoning whatsoever. The Buffalo chicken was probably the only thing that was okay in our opinion but to spend over $ 130.00 for crappie food...

The food was excellent, so was the atmosphere and the crystal clear televisions everywhere were awesome. Unfortunately, we were forgotten by our server. It wasn't that busy and we felt like we were on an island. It is quite pricey to feel this way. We were called in for our table and then told they hadn't cleaned the table so our group of 7 was told to wait there and that it would take a moment as we were waiting at the check-in desk blocking anyone trying to get in or out (it ultimately took over 5 minutes to be led to our seats and it was not easy to social distance in that confined spot either). We asked about refills and were then ignored completely when they were needed, if a customer asks it is a hint. My son's drink was completely flat and tasted horrible but without a server there was nothing we could do. It is sad because when the server did come by which was rare, she was very sweet and helpful, it would have been nice if the whole meal was that way. We all just felt that we were disregarded in many ways throughout the whole evening and it was not appreciated. We saw other tables receiving the treatment we only wished we could have received. I have been here for brunch and then again one evening for a beer and pretzel. Both times, the service was great, and the food/ beverages were great. Their beer selection is excellent, and the atmosphere is fun and welcoming.

This place has really slipped. My friend and I ordered fried pickled as an app. They were nasty dried out chips. I used to really like their fried pickles.

I ordered fish and chips. Again, over fried and just dried out and gross. My friend ordered a well done plane burger, no cheese, veggies or anything. They billed that as a build your own burger. Oh and he got dough nuts which I guess must have been ok.

$70 plus tip for food that I honestly just stopped eating because it was completely substandard. The fish and chips was $21 plus.

The service was attentive and on top of stuff. They were very good.

The atmosphere was loud. Not talking about the trivia night or any of that. I'm talking about the really loud abnoxious chairs the staff were dragging around to set up different table configurations. The sound is a terrible metallic vibrating. There is no noise deadening in the room, so it carries.
