I really don't and didn't want to leave a bad review, but I can only hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else that chooses to eat at this Barro's.
We came in on Tuesday to eat pizza when some church friends wanted to take my kids to Barro's. I have been here once prior, and had a bad experience... but since our friends preferred this location (proximity) we went anyways.
Immediately after leaving the establishment two of my kids were complaining of severe tummy/abdominal pain. Thinking it was just nothing major, I brushed it off. But when we got home it became evident that it very much was food poisoning. Vomiting and diarrhea from both kids, one of who is a pre-teen (he can handle things somewhat ok), but the other child was 5. I feel so bad for my 5 year old, because she has been in such horrible pain since that day. I took her to the Urgent Care, and she is literally still dealing with the effects. I don't know what went into that food (I did not eat anything there so I had no ill effects...) but whatever went into that food/kitchen/prep was not something I ever want my kids to have to endure again.
Several days later, my 12 year old is feeling better, but my 5 year old is still in so much pain. Never again, ever, will I go here. One bad experience won't make or break future visits if the restaurant accepts responsibility and is willing to recognize potential mishaps and opportunities to improve. But when the restaurant doesn't take steps to rectify, take that as a sign to move on from that restaurant and not give subsequent business. I should have been clear from the get go that I wasn't willing to visit this location when I was offered the chance to go out that afternoon. But I relented and went, and I feel such guilt for what my sweet little five year old has had to deal with this week .. she probably won't ever want to touch pizza again for a very very long...
Read moreNot a vegetarian, but I love the thin crust vegetarian pizza. Wings are pretty good too. Best pizza in the immediate area (Mckellips and Power) in my opinion (granted the competition is pretty weak).
5 stars if: They would A) start putting some kind of liner between the cardboard and the pizza and B) stop tossing the 3 or 4 dried out celery sticks into brown paper bags. I miss the days where you got a nice fresh reasonable portion of celery sticks and CARROTS! with your wings, especially since wings are not cheap anymore.
Edit: Downgraded to 3 stars and we've stopped using Barro's. The last couple times the pizza was soggy. So soggy in fact that the bottom of the box was saturated. I suspect it was moisture from the tomatoes. We're tired of getting old celery and carrot sticks tossed in a brown bag and soggy pizza in a cardboard box, the other place we go to now uses a corrugated, coated liner inside their pizza box.
Edit: Downgraded to 1 star. I suffered through 6 wings out of 24, and through the rest out. Sauce was delicious but the wings underneath were tougher then beef jerky. Dried out. I suspect these wings have been cooked multiple times. 18 wings in the trash (and they...
Read moreOnce more I'm torn between my decisions as right off the bat this place is closer to the likes of a 3.5. The reasoning behind this is the fact that the wings and pizza are delicious and they have killer deals as well. The service is greatly lacking. Nothing super big but really things that add up over time. For example when you order wings to go, be prepared to receive almost no celery and what ever you do get will almost certainly be old and wilted. The other instance is that it never fails when I order wings I usually get a dozen mild and a dozen medium. Only when we receive the wings they look pretty much identical and when I ask my waitress, she just answers with a "I dunno." And walks off not even attempting to answer the question. For the most part its minor but this happens nearly every time. As for the other items on the menu, I would just stick to the pizza and wings as you'll get a better sub at subway and a salad has almost nothing going for it. So its a 3.5 in my book but since I can only do increments of one then due to some negative thoughts ill round it...
