El Pollo Loco — Restaurant in Mesa

Ordered using their new online app. Got inside and it said they were still working on it. Got salsas and stood over ast front counter. The two people working the counter did not even acknowledge that I was there. They kept working on orders placed well after my online order which was sitting up on the counter near the cooks window. Manager came out from the back and did not ask about the order sitting on the counter.

After waiting a good 10-15 minutes I finally asked the young lady who had walked past me at least 10 times if that was my order sitting over there getting cold. She gave me the bag, asked if I needed plates and utensils. I said yes and she got the desired amount. As she was getting the plates and utensils, I smartly looked to see how much chicken was in the Styrofoam box. I counted 8 which I had ordered a 16 piece meal. I told her that wasn't 16 pieces. She took it too the cook and told him she needed 16 pieces. The cook without looking tells her it is 16 pieces. She brings it over to me and I told her he did not put anything into the box and there were only 8 pieces in there. She counts them, takes the box to him and shows him there are only 8. She brings it back to me with the 16 pieces. I was supposed to have sides of Mac n Cheese (Got it), Pinto beans (Got it), Mashed Potatoes and Gravy (Got mashed potatoes but NO Gravy).

Very disappointed, the Manager NEVER came out during this whole process, no one ever offered a discount, fresh chicken, fresh sides or NOTHING.

This was the El Pollo Loco at Bass Pro & Dobson in Mesa, AZ. Very poorly managed store. 10/11/2017...

I usually love El Pollo Loco. I frequently get the chicken nachos and think they are delicious and a good size portion for a pretty low price. However, this past week, went to El Pollo specifically to try the queso birria tacos that I had seen advertised and I have to say that I couldn't have been more disappointed! First of all I thought they were very over priced!! 2 tacos for $10. The tacos were not very big and the amount of beef & cheese that were in them was pathetic! There was probably about 3 strands of beef and so little cheese that you could hardly tell there was even any in it. The taco shell itself was the only thing that I can say was good. It was crispy & tasty. Also tried the queso birria quesadilla (my husband and I ordered the taco/quesadilla and split them so we could try both). Also thought $10 was kind of pricy for what you got. Again, very little meat & cheese. Will say I thought it was a little better than the tacos, but overall still very disappointed! It was so unfulfilling & small portions that we ended up going to another restaurant afterwards to get some queso dip & chips. I will for sure be back to El Pollo because overall think it's a great restaurant but highly recommend against the queso...

I have always loved El Pollo Loco. I visited another location a couple of weeks ago and was very disappointed because I ordered something that I never had before, a burrito. Not enough chicken, too much filler junk. The taste of their delicious chicken was completely lost in this huge burrito. On this visit, I returned to my normal menu choice, a chicken platter. The choice was excellent. The chicken was fresh, hot, juicy, and delicious! Both of the side dishes were tremendous. My only negative remark concerns the tortillas. They are not as good as homemade, but few restaurants can replicate homemade. That, however, is not the complaint. The complaint is that the platter only came with two tortillas. One needs at least double that amount to truly enjoy the generous amount of chicken on that platter. All in all, I was completely satisfied after this delicious, filling meal. As long as you stay away from the filler burritos, I guarantee that you will always be happy choosing El Pollo Loco. I highly recommend El Pollo Loco...
