414 Pub Pizza & Karaoke - Mesa — Restaurant in Mesa

If there was an option for zero stars that’s what I would be rating my experience on 5/10/25 at 4one4 pub and pizza. I have never felt so unwelcome by a server or business as this one. I had a group coming at 8:30, I got there at 8:10 to save a table. The server was unnecessarily rude and did not even greet us, just asked what we wanted. I said we were waiting for our group who would be there shortly. I informed her it was my brothers 21st birthday and she had zero excitement for that going straight to ask if anyone was under 21 in our group. My girlfriend honestly answered that we were both 20 and she proceeded to say “we will cut you off at 9” with no explanation as it being a company rule. She then came back twice in the next half hour to rudely tell us how much time was left for us to be there. My brother and his friends arrived and the server was not welcoming to them either. Now normally I would understand the “rules” and have no issues leaving. It was the attitude of the server that truly made me feel unwelcome and proceeded to ruin my very chipper mood of celebration.

Word of advice to the owners/ operators:

1. extend the 9pm rule for under 21 to later in the night. What kind of place turns away a large demographic of customers before 11pm is beyond me.

2. train your servers to be more polite, greet guests, and handle these situations in a polite manner rather than a rude one guaranteed to keep customers away.

To the server who we spoke with I wish the best for your career and I apologize if you were having a bad night but if you truly want to succeed you would learn what customers service and satisfaction is.

I really wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. I planned a a party for my company here and this was truly one of the best experiences - from planning to execution! Prior to my company event, I had several needs that were necessary for my group and upon discussing them with the manager, he made sure that my group would be accommodated. On the day of the event, everything was perfect... the manager was there to make sure that everything went as planned. We were assigned a waiter that was phenomenal!! He was there for us and attended to our needs just like the pro that he is. I cant think of anything that could have been better.

The manager was helpful and accommodating, the waiter was attentive, the food was delicious, the drinks were to die for, the DJ was very good and very personable and played amazing music - some per our request so that we could sing and some 'just because'...This was a perfect night and a perfect event thanks to the entire staff at 414 Pizza.

The burgers here are outstanding, and pricey but not crazy if you order delivery from Uber Eats. Restaurant isn't available on DoorDash, but phantoms Bonnie's Burgers, the Pasta Brothers, and the Calzone Empire have IDENTICAL menu items (like the Adult Grilled Cheese, the Italian Flag, and the Cowboy Burger) for $9-$14 more per entree (some items are split up to target cuisine, but the menus are word-for-word identical when the items match). Check the address - good ol' 706 W Southern.

It's a shame, really. I was ridiculously happy with my burger entree that started at $12.85, but the same entree from Bonnie starts at $21.99. Just super shady to pull something like that. And when I called them out for it, they sent me a coupon for $5 off - which is not even HALF the difference in costs between the menus on some items. Supreme or Double Pepperoni Pizza from 414 starts at $28.55, but from one of the phantoms, it starts at $40.99. I mean, really?
