Ever since banner has taken over the facility on country club in Mesa it has gone down hill! Front staff and nurses have been rude, unfriendly and pretty bothered to even be there! The only reason I continue to go is to see a certain doctor, even when we moved over an hour away but at this point I'm not sure if it's worth it. My husband and I had an appointment for the same symptoms and we were given prescriptions sent over to our pharmacy. The nurse that took all of our information didn’t even ask us which pharmacy so we had to double check at the end, not that it helped! When she entered in my prescriptions she complained and rolled her eyes! I’m on a lot of medication and I’m already super sensitive about it and to have a supposed medical professional do that was appalling. I’m pretty sure she didn’t even add all of my medication because at that point I wasn’t going to add anymore to her job since it was a bother! We saw a different doctor than the one I like but we needed to get on some antibiotics so we got the first appointment available and she looked us over, she was pretty checked out and asked us what we were doing on our own to fix this. I stared at her wondering if she was for real, I told her basically every over the counter medication over the rainbow and that we had been suffering with it for a week! She was pretty whatever about it and gave us amoxicillin and some nausea medication. It's hilarious because if she actually looked at my file she would have known I'm already on nausea medication for my other health issues, but I also assume thats where I gave up trying to tell the nurse all my medications since she kept complaining. After our appointment we drove 30 minutes to pick up our prescriptions. We drive from San tan valley to Mesa which is an hour and a half usually. So we got to our pharmacy only to find out there was nothing in their systems! I looked at the time and it was 4:45 and our appointments were at 3:15 and 3:45 and we had the same issue so it didn’t take the doctor long at all to check us so 30 minutes should have been more than enough time to send over our medication! I called panicking considering it was a Friday and we needed our medication! We have a small baby that we couldn't pass this to which is why we made the appointment! I almost wish I grabbed a hard copy prescription instead because it would have been the same amount of time! The whole purpose of having the prescriptions sent to the pharmacy is so we don’t have to wait! When I called banner they basically told me there was nothing they could do since the doctor wasn't responding. I was furious! The doctor didn’t send the medications over until 4:53! It was completely ridiculous! There is one doctor that I trust there and he’s difficult to get an appointment with but my family is evaluating if it’s even worth it to continue going to this office or any other banner in the future because there has been nothing but issues! I shouldn’t be checking in at the front desk and be able to hear a nurse complaining to another front desk staff about another patient about squeezing them in for a shot! She complained to her coworker the entire time we were checking in and even with me staring at her she continued to bash the patient with her coworker! So unprofessional and makes me worried about what is being said...
Read moreFirst time visit, new in town and need to establish a new primary doctor/general practitioner.
I kind of felt like I was in a prison clinic when I went in, lol. There was a large area of glass barriers and large intrusive warning signs about prosecution for abusive patients, and standing in the wait-here chain gang line lol.
Check in was a little backed up but not bad but still took about 10 minutes. Got all the paperwork to fill out, sat down to do it and got through about 1-1/2 pages when they called me. That part was nice, no long wait and they weren't running behind. When the gal took my papers and they weren't complete I got a "valley girl" tsk and eye roll 🙄.
Nurse and doctor were good. Level monotone temperaments. (Maybe so they don't get hurt by an angry patient? )
After visiting with the doctor to renew my maintenance medications he tells me that he can't (won't?) prescribe them all so I have to go to different specialists for some of the rx's. Like I want to run around to 3 doctor visits and pay all the separate fees for maintenance medications I've been on for years. Where I'm from specialists are problem solvers and establish your treatment then after that (unless there is a big problem or significant change) your GP helps you manage it all.
Also had to get a quick urinary test for possible UTI (results take like 5 minutes to get) and 16 hours later no result and my call to the clinic this morning yielded this answer "check again tomorrow, we might have it then". In the mean time I don't want to fill and take an antibiotic for no reason and would like to know before I do.
Also just a note to know before you go that you pay everything the day of your appointment. Your usual co-pays (of course), but also your deductible and other services. So have your bank account nice and full, just in case!
Overall, I'm sure you will get good and knowledgeable treatment, just don't expect any warm fuzzy feelings or anything to happen very fast and it probably will take multiple visits.
Anyway, this girl who has worked in the medical field, nursing homes, hospitals and nutrition programs will keep searching for the right GP and...
Read moreNeedless, to say, VERY disappointed with my new primary doctor. Back in February I had to have back surgery, and at the same time I was informed my primary doctor was closing her office. No problem, I will find a new doctor after surgery. Surgery went great, although it triggered my CRPS into a full scale pain episode which left me in bed since. I was finally able to get out of the house and go to a new primary doc. Referred to Dr. Thomas Foss at Banner. Made the appointment, and was asked numerous times what I needed from the doctor. 1st was establishing with a new doctor, and the 2nd, (just as necessary) I needed to have a medication filled that I ran out of 3.5 wks ago. Ritalin. If you have ADHD and don't have your medication, you totally get what why I am writing this. There was a very brief discussion about my health, before he informed he WOULD NOT and could not write me an RX for Ritalin, that I needed a shrink for that. Not true. It was a shrink who sent me back to my primary for this med. When I called him out on the "I can't do this" he got very upset. I got upset. He had no idea how HARD it was for me to get to this appt. I told him I told the receptionist numerous times why I needed an appointment, and this was a total waste of my time as well as his. He just walked out of the room. I guess he cannot take being told he is wrong. The rest of the office staff were extremely friendly and kind. I even received a phone call they would refund me my copay, (cash) but there was no way I could make it back to that office today. I need to arrange rides. And still a bit upset, I took my frustration out on the young man who called for which I am sorry for. I did apologize for my language. Still that does not...
