I've tried Mediterranean style restuarants in Maui Hi, Vegas, LA, AZ and in my opinion by far flaming kabob is one of the worst and here's why. To start they're chicken shawarma plate is $18 almost 20 bucks. Now for a price like that I'm expecting you to deliver something amazing because 5 star restuarant deliver when they charge like that. First I had the option of lentil soup, chicken soup and a salad (it came with my platter.) I chose the lentil soup and it was terrible, I basically got 4-5 little pieces of carrots. I guess I order carrots with lentil tasting water with NO lentils. The server saw I dismissed the soup and ask if I want to try the chicken soup I was a little hesitant but she insisted and got the soup. I basically got the same soup just the water tasted like chicken and instead of carrots I got rice instead. She said it's a puree but my God woman how are you going to lie to my face it was not smooth or creamy at all it was watery! I felt like walking away right there but then my platter came. I stayed because to be fair the chicken looked nice and tasted good but not $18 good. The rice was so-so nothing special thought it was interesting that they added raisins but it wasn't for the likes of me so I removed them. The dip was actually pretty good and the pita bread was okay. I'd recommend getting a babysitter, the server sat right behind me with a crying baby when the whole place was filled with empty seats. I thought that was interesting but maybe she was an owner and can do whatever she wants. Clean up the outside of the restuarant its dirty and projects the image of an abandoned restuarant. Honestly I'm never going back there again. It's not a 5 star restuarant by a long shot and it's just not worth it to me. I'll prefer driving to "Hummus Xpress" or "Shawarma Paradise" they have better quality food, bigger portions, better service and better prices. The people are nice and friendly but demonstrate that...
Read more3.5 stars, but Google won't do half-stars. The building used to be a Five and Diner, but had shut down and was bought out by a Mediterranean family. The food is amazing, hands down. That's why it has a high rating. The things dragging the rating down are the high prices and the long wait time. The family shouldn't make one young lady do everything. Still, she is very nice, and the food was excellent. Very authentic. For the prices they charge, I sooooo hope they do something about the dacor. It still looks like the old restaurant, and parts of it are quite Rundown. It needs a bit of Maintenance, and a paint job, and some cultural decorations. Thankfully they were also playing traditional music, but I'm hoping that they use the profits that I can tell by the prices that they are making to make the place look a little nicer. Ambiance goes a long way, especially when you're paying top dollar for the food. If there was a better balance between Decor, prices, and speed of service, I could have given the place five stars. Maybe they just haven't been in business for very long and haven't gotten around to the upgrades yet. If they plan to stay in business, I hope they do these things. It would be nice if they had nice Decor to go along with their...
Read moreSo sad that this place was great only a few years ago. It's really gone downhill, significantly. The food is not fresh, the service is not prompt or attentive, and the restaurant is dirty.
In 2013 I gave this place 4 stars and the following review:
**OLD REVIEW: If you want Arabic food, this is the best place in town to get it! Or maybe you don't even know you want it - but trust me you do!
They have the best fattoush salad, hummus and falafel in town, hands down. The fattoush is a mix of crisp romaine and cucumbers, mixed with juicy tomatoes, crunchy fried pita bread and sumac in a tart lemon and olive oil dressing. The hummus is thin and full of olive oil and garlic - it's not that thick bean dip fake hummus crap that has become so in vouge recently. The falafel is a perfectly spiced deep-fried masterpiece.
The Combo for Two with shish kabob, chicken kabob, shish kafta, chicken shawarma, fried kibbee, falafel and grape leaves, served with rice, hummus and salad is a great deal for $24.99 because it's enough food for two meals each (4 meals total)...and you can't beat that!
Be prepared to breath garlic for a week and have a very happy tummy!!...
