this place is a Very Serious pizzeria...
... nah, just kidding.
𝙟𝙞𝙢𝙢𝙮 & 𝙟𝙤𝙚'𝙨 𝙥𝙞𝙯𝙯𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖 slogan is something like ”Serious Slices”... and they aren't screwing around.
besides their desserts, this place is extremely solid.
their pizza is good, their calzones are made with care and precision, their wings are decent¹, their salads are fresh and well thought out, and they use fresh, high quality ingredients. you would think this to be a baseline, but you would find out it's not after one order from any national chain. or quite an unfortunate percentage of independent pizza makers.

i'm a huge fan of getting their calzone with fresh garlic & basil and pepperoni, then getting a few different dipping sauces. 𝙟𝙞𝙢𝙢𝙮 & 𝙟𝙤𝙚'𝙨 𝙥𝙞𝙯𝙯𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖 do their calzones properly: they don't think about their calzone as a sort of pizza folded in half, but edible artwork in its own right. that said, you can be assured it doesn't have the marinara on the inside and it won't get soggy.

Read moreWe had our orders taken as soon as we came in with little issue, and the food came out fairly fast. We got the #2 and #3 combos w/ 2 24 oz drinks. Lobby was 85° and although it was cooler than outside it was still noticeable and uncomfortable (hence the low atmosphere score) only one Parmigiano shaker - that was weird.
Apps: Salad, Wings and Cheesy Bacon Fries Overall the salad was a simple spring mix with diced cucumber, small tomatoes, and sliced carrots. Blue cheese dressing was great in flavor and not overpowering. Spring mix was basic - nothing fancy there. The wings were really good. Mild was the flavor I went with because I wanted to taste the chicken and not just have it drowned out. Mild was a solid flavor. Only one wing was a let down* and overcooked, but it was due to hardly any meat or skin to protect the flat. The rest were perfect all the way through. Good crunch and plenty of meat. They werent JUMBO - which is ok. They were a great wing. The fries? Worst of the apps. If I had to guess - they use preshredded cheese and precooked bacon. The way they looked arriving to the table, it looks like they ran it under the pizza oven too long. Really need to work on how those are prepped.
Pizza: Serious Slice Cheese, Serious Slice Pepperoni. The slices were as advertised - MASSIVE, but they were refired after we ordered. Biggest let down of the pizza portions was that it was obvious my Pepperoni was added on to a cheese slice and that my wifes cheese slice was just tossed back in the oven. Flavor was good, portion left us full.
Drinks: 8 fountain options: PEPSI, DIET PEPSI, STARRY, MOUNTAIN DEW, TWO CREAM SODAS, BRISK SWEET AND UNSWEET. They did have bottles of Dr Pepper behind the counter and bottles of water branded with the stores name/designs.
Overall - a good experience. It wasnt perfect execution, but I take food reviews seriously with new places and this score/experience was pretty standard. Hope to see improvements and try a pie next time so it's guaranteed made fresh and not refired.
Receipt said UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. Might have something to do with the uptick in positive reviews and decrease in negatives. Give it your own shot and hot...
Read moreSo bummed to have to write this review about one of my favorite pizza places. Pizza 5 stars! Customer Service 1 star :(
I took the day off today to spend it with my kids while they were on fall break. Luck had it that Jimmy and Joe's had a $4.99 slice of pizza with a drink special today. So off we go! I took my crew to my local Mesa Jimmy and Joe's Pizzeria. While in the restaurant, I had asked my kids to wait while I found out what the pizza special included. I approached the cashier (middle aged lady with a blond pony tail, t-shirt and jean shorts), who I think was a manager or maybe owner. I had wanted to clarify the pizza special and see if the slice of pizza included a topping. The cashier was flustered, edgy and in a hurry. She made me feel hurried, so much so that I kept stumbled over my words. I kept trying to ask my question, and she kept cutting me off and interrupting me. Finally, I got frustrated and told her I understand she is in a hurry, I just wanted her to hear my question and answer it. Now I am sure that my question to her is one that she had probably answered a hundred times today. But to cut off a customer in order to move on to the next thing that she needed to do, left me with a bad service experience. I am not one to be confrontational at all, but with her bad attitude and her constantly cutting me off, I almost walked out the door with my kids. I am so disappointed with our experience today. The lady ended up walking away from the cash register, which it feels like she should have done before helping me. I think she must have had a rush of people before me, and was in a bad mood. I have no idea, but be professional and take care of your customers. I don't care how many times you have been asked about the special, stop and listen and answer your customer's question. I work in a high performance field myself in the customer service field and have to practice managing my emotions and offering a great customer service experience no matter how busy or how rushed I feel. The customer is your bread and butter.
I love your pizza, Jimmy and Joe's, but your customer service needs an...
