Raices Restaurant coffee Bar — Restaurant in Mesa

I used to go to Millie’s cafe, it was a comfort to me because I’ve lost most of my Puerto Rican family and this, my heritage. I like to cook Puerto Rican dishes at home, family recipes. But being able to go to a place that tastes like home is such a joy. Raíces knocked it straight out of the park! The service was amazing (as my Spanish is not) they were very helpful and kind. The food came up quick, and when I forgot part of my order there they called me to let me know!

On to the food! It is definitely different from Millie’s, in the best way! Change is good right?! The chicken is fried and the seasonings just slam! It is so tender and falls off the bone. The rice is cooked to perfection (consistency is key right?) The stewed beans taste just like my childhood!

Years back Millie’s stopped serving relleno de papa (stuffed potatoes) they’re difficult to make! I’ve missed them ever since and to learn Raíces serves them absolutely made my day!!! They are so delicious it’s unreal!

As a whole this entire experiences made my entire week! I was just driving home and I thought “oh illl stop at Millie’s I’m right here” and found Raíces instead, it was amazing, I will absolutely be back, absolutely!!!

Hey guys, here we go again. I absolutely hate leaving reviews over the years. Especially knowing that it's either going to be because of something extremely good or something extremely terrible! I was looking for a place to eat with authentic Puerto Rican food and came across this beautiful restaurant. order 4 pasteles ready to eat. First off, There was so much fat around the meat that was in them you couldn't help but notice! and it had a little bit of an old taste to it...... something was a bit off with the taste and these super fatty pieces of meat. They were already kind of falling apart but as I opened the third one, there was a long string of hair cooked right on in it🤢🤢🤢 and well, that led me here four pasteles and a drink for a little over $24 only to have hair in my food and it taste.. old.😐 It's a beautiful place and maybe the rest of their menu doesn't have hair in it and does...

Mi Gente, This is the spot! It's definitely one of the best Puerto Rican Cuisines I've tasted in Arizona to date. 🇵🇷 Any other PR restaurant or food truck in Phoenix will have a far run for their money. I've eaten at them all, believe me. You're missing out if you haven't walked through these doors in the last 9 months. The food was delicious and spot on authentic island flavors in ever dish I devoured.They have a large variety of pastries and a full menu selection of all your favorite traditional dishes. Empanadillas, Rellenos de Papa,Alcapurrias, Tostones, Pasteles, Pernil, Arros con habichueles/gandules, Tembleque, Arroz con dulcet just to name a few .This full menu keeps going. They have beer and margaritas on tap, plus your favorite colas ,juices, and Coco Rico. Stop in for lunch or dinner. They are open 7 days a week, 10 am -8 pm every day.....
