Love hanging out at the Silver Key Lounge. It's a great place to hang out with friends to grab drinks and play games. You can bring your own food in or they have a rotating option of food trucks available. I have about 2 drinks when I go, and it's about $15, so the drinks are average price expectancy. Their cocktail drinks also have a nerdy theme to them, which is very fun. Every Friday night, they have a trivia game where you can win a gift card. And they have a store where you can buy board games, which is again, very handy. They have a vast library of games, some they have in the store so you can try before you buy, and they may charge a library game fee (can't remember the specifics of what the charge is for but the rules are posted very clearly around the bar...but I have always spent enough money to not have to pay an additional fee). We recently had a birthday gathering there, and the staff kept coming by to wish everyone a happy birthday so everyone is super nice and personable. There also are tables and private rooms that require either extra charge or advance reservation. They are super sweet to allow reservations for tables through Google because that place is always hopping. Just note that although the place is fun for all ages, the whole place turns into a bar at 10 PM, so kids are not allowed after that time. It's a haven for D&D, card players and board gamers. Usually great parking options. Very great place...
Read moreSuper chill place when I've been there (Which admittedly hasn't been for their MTG nights, paint nights or any events so grain of salt).
The front in a modest Local Game Store with dice, games and suchlike for purchase (Including some local made/printed/painted stuff which is cool) and has a cork board for meet ups, army painters and the like.
The back has a huge number of games available for rental (most for free, a few of the uhh... 'Heavier' games have a deposit you'll need to pay. If you're a board game person you can probably guess a few of the titles that this category includes) just be sure to put them on the restocking table when you're done and don't try to reshelve them yourself. The bar has a healthy selection of beers, some house cocktails and even a mead or two.
While they don't really have much beyond bar snacks for food there's options for either a local place that'll do free delivery (I don't recall the name of the restaurant off the top of my head, I'll update this review when I find out) or occasionally food trucks.
My only qualm is I've got sticky tables/chairs the last few times I've gone, but other than that an excellent hangout spot to spend some hours playing games and the places stays open...
Read moreFirst off, if you're not into board games and tabletop RPGs, this may not be the scene for you. It's definitely a gamer bar without exception. That being said, if you're a gamer, check this place out. You won't regret it.
Bottled water, energy drinks are among the non-alcoholic options available, and they have quite a few beers, ales, and a few ciders on tap. Nothing that's commercially widespread like Budweiser or Coors (which I thought was great), and the few I tried were pretty awesome.
As for food, it's sandwiches, wraps and salads. The sandwiches and wraps are made to order (you choose the contents like lettuce, tomatoes, etc., and condiments), and I believe the salads are, to some extent, but don't quote me on that. Gamer-themed names, like "The Sub of Cthulhu," and others. I had the Dunwich wrap, and it was great.
Don't have a game mat for your tabletop game? No problem! Several tables in the center have different styles of mats with grid patterns, and they're walled, so no dice falling off when rolling for an action. Call ahead and you might be able to reserve a table. Otherwise it appears they're first come...
