I visited the Woodshed II over two years ago so it might have changed since then. At that time I was homeless off and on and usually went to the Woodshed II to sit on their outside patio so I could use their wifi to find a job and a room to rent and to contact programs that might help me get stable again. I didn't look homeless nor ever acted in a manor that would make the customers turn around and leave, like asking for spare change or being loud or belligerent. There were a few times though that I did break down and cry to myself when no one was around. The folks who worked the bar recognized me after awhile and not once did they make me leave or treat me any differently than their paying customers. I mention this because in the end it does matter how we all treat one another and our country is experiencing a true crisis when it comes to the homeless population. The long held sterio types are not even fifty percent of the real common day homeless person. The new unheard or better yet just plain ignored majority are people who have graduated highschool and don't do drugs. They usually have had some college or training school but at some point something went wrong, usually a few things went wrong all at the worst time. I'm was one of those people and I'm still grateful to the staff at the Woodshed II for allowing me to sit on that patio and look for work and a place out of the hot sun and for treating me kindly and not like a worthless piece of trash, like so many of us do now, to the homeless. So with that said I give them a raving review and I have eaten there when I had some money and the food was great. They also have a great jukebox and a really fun karaoke night.I also noticed that when the place closes the security guards make sure that the lady customers get to their cars safely. It's a really nice little place, honky tonk kinda...
Read moreNow, understand that the Woodshed is the first bar that I remember as a kid. I used to go with my Dad regularly for wings and the King Kong burger and fries and I learned how to play pool for the first time on their tables. So, it pains me to share this: this place sucks. I regularly go to dive bars in this town and my experience today was the worst! 13 for 10 of the scrawniest wings -- I mean I used to pay .05 and. 10 cents for these and buy 50 at a time to make up a full meal. 30 bucks for a diet coke, 10 wings, and some totts that I think I waited a half hour for--and the place had like 12 people in the building including the bartender and the cook. Oh, and I noticed it wasn't exactly cool but in 113 degree temps that isn't always a surprise; but then the staff starts explaining how the closers the night before turned off the a/c so the place wasn't expected to cool down until mid evening because the a/c is death old--I mean they've probably been on that building for 25 years right. And who can afford new a/c units when you are charging 1.30 plus tax for a fried chicken wing and 3.00 for a refillable glass of diet coke. I'm so disappointed in this bar that is a Phoenix area O.G. I'll just go back to Applebee's for 1/2 price happy hour! Please, go somewhere else and save yourself the disappointment; if you don't, you've...
Read moreI had the worst experience and service from a bartender! Her name was NICOLE JUST TO Make CLEAR . Having been in the industry for over 15 years, I can confidently say that this was a deeply disappointing encounter. The bartender seemed unprofessional and incredibly rude for no apparent reason. It felt as though she was under the influence, and her sloppy demeanor made me feel unwelcome.
This was particularly unfortunate since I was in a large party and planned to cover the bill and tip generously. I hope the bar owners take a closer look at their hiring practices because they not only lost a significant amount of money today, but also a group of loyal customers.
I would give this place one star simply because I can't rate it any lower. My advice is this: bartenders are the face of your business. Being a bartender involves much more than just making drinks; itâs also about the customer experience. You can craft a fantastic drink, but if you serve it with a poor attitude, no one will remember the drink. All theyâll recall is the...
