First off!! I asked the chef to come out and explain why they felt it was okay to provide what they presented to my table! I have given this place so many chances to prove me wrong, but here we are, plain as day. The way I had constant people at my table, due to the quality, yet the chef did not show up, is wild!
So here's the run down. Food attempt #1 Some time in late Dec or early Jan (can't quite remember which) we show up, and they inform they currently did not have their liquor license available, so no drinks. Off back we thinking why does a "TIPSY" chicken not have alcohol? Might as well call this place Chicken Chicken! Whelp, we all order the chicken sandwhich because at this point, the server pointed out it was one of the best. So this chicken comes out... but damn for the chicken to be that damn DELICIOUS, is disrespectful!
I have gone back to order the chicken sandwhich a second time around early February. This time I brought a different friend, and AGAIN they brought out this juicy succulent chicken that if it had a bone, it would slide right off of it! I felt that they must be playing games with me, because twice is a pattern. However the THIRD time I brought yet another person, and these people had the nerve to bring me another chicken sandwich, where the chicken MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH!!!! Bruuuhhh!! My dude!!! 👏🏾 It was even better this time around!
So a few weeks ago March 27th I was able to bring my little sister, who was coming from outta town. I'm telling her about this place with a chicken samdwich that makes no sense why it's so damn good! So she comes with me, we order the Kimchi Fried rice, the boulogi fries and you guessed it, that Chicken Sandwich with Kimchi Mayo! But this time they had their liquor license! And giiiirrrrllllll she literally asked the server to speak to the chef that made the food, because it was that bomb!! And the bartender did their thang! Unforunately, the Chef still has yet to come out and defend why they assaulted my taste buds with greatness! For that reason, 5 points from Gryffindor! But outside of that, love the service, the flavors, and atmosphere!
Yal don't understand I don't order the same thing on the menu! I almost always try something new each time. But thats sandwhich, chile, YAASS! So to skip ahead, I ended up coming again, and each time that chicken came out so moist and juicy, that I'm convinced they have chickens in the back hooked to IVs! I have to finally concede to the possibility that this chicken may be the BEST FRIED CHICKEN IN THE VALLEY!! That kimchi mayo slaps!...
Read moreJust to start off I've been wanting to trying to this place for almost a year so when I finally found myself in the area with spare time I was beyond excited. I was already starving so it was like the perfect storm of the damage I was about to do on the menu.
I wanted to start slow so I only ordered the chicken sandwich to start. Was eye balling the soy and garlic wings after.
What arrived was unfortunately the most disappointing monstrosity of a chicken I've had in awhile.
The breading and seasoning for the fried chicken was actually on point. The spicy sauce was delicious and perfect pairing. The green onions matched so well.
What I can't get over is how they managed to screw all that prep time and work to use some of the lowest quality chicken I've had in a long time. Chicken was chewy and tough.
For a menu that is over 90% chicken you'd think they'd source some high quality tender stuff. But nope.
In a frantic attempt to justify this all for them, I asked if this is how the sandwich normally looks and he replied yes.
So I can't help them anymore besides giving some constructive criticism and say, source better chicken for the love of God. You have so much potential here and it's being wasted because you're cheaping out on cheap chicken.
All I know is I wasn't interested in trying anything else out. Was still so hungry after I only ate half of the sandwich.. Took the rest home, maybe I'll eat it maybe I'll peel off the skin and give it to the dogs. Probably the latter.
Either way I'm having to look for another place to eat just after leaving the restaurant.. Not how I expected my first visit to go. Only reason you didn't get 1 star was because I believe there's...
Read moreI can't believe after going to this place at least once a week for several months, I haven't written a review. When people ask "what's your favorite restaurant" I always answer Forno Rosso in Chicago, but Tipsy Chicken may have taken the cake.
Now onto the review. This place singlehandedly made me stop getting fried chicken anywhere else, except maybe Jollibee, and that's only because I am part Filipino. It never misses. So far we've tried every flavor of the boneless wings, our favorites being the sweet and spicy and the fish sauce ones, but yesterday we saw they added more! It's juicy and crunchy and melt in your mouth every time. Not to mention great portions, we split the 14 piece boneless between the two of us for about $15 each, and always leave with leftovers
The fries are the battered kind, my personal favorite, especially with Tipsy sauce. The pho hits the spot. My partner is a big fan of their Thai iced tea and the fried mandu. Again, so far has yet to miss.
I saw a bad review about the chicken sandwich, which I have not tried, but frankly it's because why get a chicken sandwich where the bread gets in the way of the chicken? Also, I forgot to mention my partner doesn't like to reheat food, except when it's from here, that's how good we think it is.
To each their own, but if you like good, fried, asian-style chicken, this is...
