We happened to be passing through Mexia and the yellow-and-red sign (and packed parking lot) caught our eye. This place did not disappoint! The heavenly sauce aroma made me almost too stupid to order, but don't worry, if that happens to you, too, the nice folks at Wright's will help you out! We got the sweet tea, sliced beef sandwich and warm peach cobbler. Do not skip the peach cobbler...the fruit is perfect, and you get cracker-crisp top AND bottom crust, caramelized with sugar. Absolutely wonderful BBQ.

It was alright. After reading the reviews. Yall fooled me. I guess yall locals haven't been down South. It's definitely not Luling, Lockhart or my hometown Mumfords #1 BBQ. Victoria TX. Ribs were skinny and weak. Brisket was dry. They got me though, trying to sop it all in BBQ sauce. I should have known that was a dead giveaway. No smoke ring on the brisket. Im not gonna lie 16$ I ate that. One and done!🫔

I was in Mexia Texas on business and happened to mentioned that I was hungry and had been looking for some meat on the grill. The lady suggested Wright's BBQ. I went in and was greeted when I walked in. The place was clean and neat WITH NO FLIES. Three (3) people ahead of me. The menu had too may choices for me. I told the young lady that I knew that I didn't want any sausages, (I have to watch my pork intake). I decided on the ribs and brisket. Collard greens and HOMEMADE potato salad. I paid for my order and stepped aside so the customer behind me could order. He was a regular and got the peach cobbler. I went back ordered the Peach Cobbler. I should have gotten at least 2. But I didn't sample it before I left the restaurant Mexia Texas. But I do plan to return. I'm actually thinking about calling to see if I can get a WHOLE COBBLER. The cobbler, had me rocking from side to side and humming. I said all of that to say this, Wright's BBQ, in my opinion, is worth the 50 miles I traveled from Palestine for business, to just to taste the peach cobbler. The meats were good. The ribs were not dried out. The beef brisket, yes was good. If I get the chance to return, I hope to remember to ask for my brisket with some FAT on it... One more thing, in my opinion, the meats were seasoned so good that I didn't need OR use...

WoW! Talk about a hidden gem! We went to Wright's BBQ for the first time tonight and we cannot believe it took us so long to hear about them! As soon as we walked in, we felt welcomed. I'm going to tell you, we were hungry and between the two of us we got some pulled pork, brisket, hot links, ham, cole slaw, potato salad, sweet potatoes, and beans - and every damn bit of it was UH-MAY-ZING!! My goodness, they know their stuff at Wright's BBQ! Their restaurant is small, but cozy and - most importantly to me, it is clean. Despite leaving with full bellies, we are already looking for to our return! ...

I really wish I had taken some pictures but almost bit my damn fingers trying to get them in my mouth. I went through there today little after lunch. sat, 11/04/23. around 2pm. I eat BBQ just about where I travel. They are definitely as good or better than alot of places I have been in Texas , thats including all the BBQ in Lockhart , Austin, waco, Dallas, Houston, cowtown, I'm not going to mention names but I think Wright's should make the Tx monthly list.I had pork ribs and brisket. The flavor was great. Just give them a shot you might be...
