I'll explain why I gave only 2 stars working with Jim. To preface my review is..... I chose this activity b/c I needed to have unrushed time and not feel pressured "to do" something. So, my frame of mind is rushed - pressured - and under some extremely stressful circumstances. The time slot is for 2.5 hours. I went to leave and we were "done" in 1 hour & 20 minutes, candle and all. I feel if he had taken the time slot and really help to guide, I would be more satisfied with my painting. As it is, I came home and trashed it. I am certain Jim is a nice guy and a pleasant person. Reading people isn't his strong suit, especially when he asked what I was celebrating. I wasn't - I wanted to not stress or think about all that goes on around me. When guiding us to paint, he rushed through the entire session. He didn't take time to actually help guide or give any individual guidance, and there were only 3 of us. No "tips" on how to paint, how to mix colors, how to use brush strokes to create certain special effects. It felt like I was an imposition to even ask for help. I felt like I couldn't ask for another paper plate to mix colors b/c using the same plate for all colors, and not a professional, paint gets messy on the plate. I felt it wasn't to his financial benefit to spend the time with truly helping me and making me feel welcome and comfortable and happy I chose to visit when he taught. This was confirmed when he joked about painting a picture, earlier today. He showed it to us on the easel and it turns out it solicited tips with his name and phone number to somehow Zelle him a tip. I didn't even get my full 2 and 1/2 hours. Sending him a tip wasn't my first thought for sure. He rushed through showing us how to paint and guiding us. It felt as though he wanted to get done b/c it didn't benefit him financially. This isn't my first time at PWAT. It has been a few years though. My overall experience was a negative one and I recognize my mindset contributes to it. That said, pushing for a tip when guiding us to paint was rushed and unprofessional, and not a lot of help along the way, wasn't polite and polished. Really? A side note, he started almost 10 minutes late b/c he continued to help a customer inquiring about a birthday party for her daughter who came in 5 minutes before class was to start. He had a scheduled class, that should be the focus. Offer a card and offer to call back. So that time also bit into the 1 hour and 20 minutes, totaling my time as an hour & 10 minutes. Really? I know potential customers should be assisted and helped. I have private clients and when someone walks in and I am with a client, or I am about to start, I should not take from them to answer questions. I offer to call them back and explain I am with a client. Really? If I go again, I'd like to try, I certainly won't pick any of his...
Read moreMy daughter turned 11 & I couldn't figure out what to do with a group of 11 year olds to celebrate, but then my husband had the great idea of doing paint with a twist kid edition. When it comes to party planning I like simple. I called up the studio & simple is what I got. You request a date & time then once you get approval they send you an email & you can do the deposit. Deposit is for 3 chairs. Then once your deposit is placed, you get access to your party page. There you chose your artwork which is super easy. You can save several in your favorites & then you chose your final piece. From your party page you can send invites & make your final payment too. You get time to set up & time to clean up. I did the standard which was 1.5, but since they give you time to set up & clean up it was 2 hours total & more than enough time. The pricing was $27 per painter for the time slot we chose which isn't bad at all for the experience. You have an area to set up for your event & then the team sets up each painters area with an individual canvas, paint brush & paint. Aprons are also provided. The painters have someone guiding them throughout the event. Our instructor was Natalia & she was the best! So sweet & patient. Highly recommend her. We had the upstairs room that had a decent sized waiting room so some of the parents could wait. Our party was 19 painters & about 9 parents stayed. I do recommend drop off since parking is limited as is the wanting room space. The ambience is nice too. They play music & give you time to get your snacks to keep painting. My husband & I were really happy with the event. Our daughter loved it. Highly recommend ! Can't wait to try with friends on another occasion, but love that it can be an adult event, kid event or family event.
Only thing to keep in mind if you are doing a large event make sure to have a head count several days ahead of your scheduled event. I made sure to triple ask because the studio did assure me that the day of they do not refund for seats that weren't filled. Also, make sure everyone gets to the studio on time because they do give it a little while before starting, but once they start it may be hard to catch up depending on what you're painting. We had 3 girls come slightly after the instructor had begun, but Natalia went & caught them up...
Read moreVery unprofessional. I DO NOT recommend and wish I could give negative stars.
Booked this location for my bridal shower MONTHS in advance. I was called by the studio 1 week before my event to notify me that the studio was "unusable," so I'd either have to move to another location or cancel.
No specifics whatsoever were given about what the issue was or when it would be resolved.
I agreed to transfer locations, but was told my entire party (all of which are older ladies traveling from out of state) would have to rebook again after being refunded.
I asked for them to please see if it was possible to transfer the existing guest funds instead of having them rebook, but also requested that they let ME know in ADVANCE if it wasn't so that I could notify my guests of cancelation IN ADVANCE of them receiving a cancelation email. This request was agreed upon.
10 frantic and confused texts from guests later, I realize the studio canceled the event without giving me notice (as requested and agreed) so that I could explain to my guests what happened and minimize confusion that I now have to deal with.
Worst of all, no apology or explanation was issued from the studio. Just what I need 1 week before my wedding...
VERY unprofessional and inconsiderate. Save your time and money and go...
