I was really looking forward to trying out Bullwinkle's off a friend's recommendation. Sadly they failed to meet expectation three times, primarily in customer service. We already lowered service expectations as we chose to sit at bar vs. waiting on a table, bar was not really busy.
#1 The Bartender was keeping social distancing rules by separating groups, which was cool, rules is rules. A hostess sat an elderly gentleman at the bar, there was one chair space between him, my group and another couple. The bartender noticed him and immediately snapped at him that he could not sit there as there was not enough space between him, us and the other couple. He noted the hostess sat him there and we validated his statement to the bar tender, she noted that they are not supposed to and he would have to leave the bar as there needed to be 2 seats between groups. Scanning the bar quickly I noted this to be true except in one circumstance, the couple at the end of the bar (who the bartender spent most of the evening socializing with them) were only one seat away from another couple. Given this, we asked the Gentleman to join our company. If you're gonna enforce the rules - fine, but don't make exceptions for your friends and treat other customers in a poor fashion.
#2 I ordered the Chuck Norris Burger, I had to! On the menu it noted 1/2 Pound Beef Patty and Korean BBQ. - so I was looking for some BBQ on top of the patty once my meal arrived (standby, that is #3), and sadly, I found none. I asked the bartender and she noted it comes with Korean BBQ Sauce, not meat....Hmmm, I know printers charge by the letter but this clarification makes a big difference in my book. Over all it tasted pretty good but would have been better with more meat!
#3 The kitchen appeared to be very disorganized with really long ticket times and items coming out at all different times and tables receiving food before tables that came in long before them. The guy next to us ordered his food as we were eating appetizers, he was still waiting after out meal had been completed and we had a long ticket time.
Bottomline, I may give them another shot but they really dropped the ball on...
Read moreI didn't realize how difficult it is to find a simple grilled chicken breast and baked potato! 🤯
Obviously this is something that you can get at all the steakhouse chains, but I was wanting to try something new and not stupid expensive. Most of the BBQ places around here have grilled chicken, but the sides are of the cookout variety, (think mac and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw).
I finally came across Bullwinkle's in Miamisburg and ordered to go.
It was my first time at this restaurant. You walk in the front door and you immediately see the host stand. There was no one there. There's no instruction on if I should wait or where to go for to go orders, so I just stood there and waited. I peeked around the corners, nothing seems unusually busy. But I don't see anyone who looks like they can help me. So I wait and wait. Finally, a busser noticed me and came and asked if I had been helped. I told him that I hadn't, and he sent someone up to help me.
I ordered the grilled chicken, BBQ sauce on the side, baked potato and chicken egg rolls. I was given the chicken with Cajun seasoning. Normally I wouldn't have cared, but I truly just wanted some plain grilled chicken, and this seasoning is LOADED on there. I'm unsure if I was even given the correct order, because this looks like two orders of chicken to me. It's supposed to be two 5 oz chicken breasts, but this looks like a lot. Maybe I'm just used to having worked at other places where each piece of chicken shown here would have been 8 oz. Maybe they were out of barbecue sauce and thought they'd throw in an extra chicken breast? I'm not sure. I didn't feel like going back to get it fixed.
The chicken itself was good. Had it not been seasoned, like I wanted, I probably would have enjoyed it more. Baked potato was good. I did find it odd that a side baked potato was considered a "premium side," and cost more. A baked potato is a pretty traditional side at other restaurants. Chicken egg rolls were good, though a bit undercooked. They reheated perfectly.
I'll definitely go back, but I think I may call in any to go orders, to ensure accuracy. A few misses, but the food was...
Read moreI cut into my steak and only got 1 bite before our waitress came over to me raising her voice saying I was given the wrong steak (a filet, not sirloin) stating that if I choose to keep eating it I would have to pay the difference or she could take it back, throw it in the trash (her exact words) and give me the correct steak. She was very absrasive in her tone. It was cringy how she raised her voice at me, acting as if this was all my fault. I did nothing wrong, the mistake was on her part. I didn't like her attitude and didn't appreciate the scene she made (other tables were staring) so I asked for the manager. The manager never apologized but agreed with me saying I could just keep the steak I already cut into + the other one too-since they were going to throw it in the trash. The manager then returned to another nearby table to sit + chat with another patron. The waitress avoided our table after that, letting my husband's drink run dry (he had to ask for a refill and I asked for to go boxes) I cut into the original steak + half of it was cooked correct (medium) + half was well (no pink center) and very fatty. The table behind us had a bad experience too-another employee dropped their food on the floor + the sauce spilled all over the sleeve of the gentleman's button down dress shirt. I never seen a manager go to their table to apologize or offer a discount for their meal, I was in shock. I normally like to support small business in town, but what I experienced tonight was embarrassing and dissapointing. Learn to apologize....an apology...
