The food is always awesome. There's very little difference and the options you can get so they're consistency and quality is firm. The service - the friendliness of the workers is always excellent. Where they are lacking a little is maturity for lack of a better word. Citing a specific example that has happened on more than one occasion - how large orders are handled. I'll run there for lunch during the work week, meaning I have a very set amount of time. Yesterday, due to a large order and the workers only communicating with the four people in front of me who had already placed their orders I ended up losing 20+ minutes standing in line plus another 20 min drive time to and from work. It was only when I proactively asked the order taker a realistic time frame as we had not moved in 20 minutes did I learn about the 60+ burger order they were working on during prime lunch hours. Don't misunderstand. I'm very happy for them that they are getting those large orders. That's what they need to sustain their business, but it can be handled in a more effective way to accommodate the large orders as well as walk-up. As a result I didn't have any time to get lunch somewhere else. Meaning a little proactive communication to everyone waiting in line, not just the people who've already placed their orders, would have been very much appreciated.
Sidebar- setting a standard maximum order limit for the wagon, say 20 per person, and anything beyond that must be placed 24 hours in advance, and must be picked up before 11:30 or after 1: 30, it would be very beneficial to all involved. That or using the commissary to cook such large orders in, there by freeing up the actual wagon for...
Read moreIf you do not know what the Hamburger Wagon is, you are in luck! It is your salvation! They are not some mass-market-fare, run-of-the-mill operation. They are not going to bend over backwards to accommodate your every need. They do not care if you only eat grass-fed organic vegan soy beef.
They offer a very simple menu: Burgers. They are, at the time of writing, $1.25 each. They have four toppings: pickle, onion, salt, and, finally, pepper. The presentation is as straightforward as the topping list: they come in a bag. They are not individually wrapped because obviously that would create unnecessary waste and the Hamburger Wagon has been straight up ENVIRONMENTAL since it's inception. They have a TINY carbon footprint, yo! No seating, no superfluous pampering BS like restrooms or a full service staff or straws or other wasteful signs of consumerism gone mad. Just delicious burgers.
Because, by the way, their burgers are INSANE. Simple as hell, sure, but why try to improve upon perfection? Get a sack of 10, share with a friend, experience what the ancient poets would have written about if they had been around when the Hamburger Wagon was invented. It's iconic, their food is delicious and there is nothing more to say. Bottom line, it's worth going out of your way to obtain these...

The burgers are the real stars of the show here. They’re made with fresh, never frozen beef, and they’re cooked to perfection on a hot griddle. The patties are juicy and flavorful, and they’re perfectly complemented by the simple toppings of onions and pickles.
