I enjoy the take out from this place. Never had a complaint about it. The staff is friendly. Twice in all the times I've been in there have I ever encountered another customer having a language barrier problem, mostly due to their own prejudices, I've never had a problem. How hard is it to slowly, clearly say, "Kung pow chicken, fried rice, one quart of hot and sour soup?" Chinese food has been served here in the states for decades now, learn how to order it.
The only issues this place has are related to their dining room. The lighting is poor and makes one feel that it is not as clean as reality The CFL light bulbs save money, but are unhealthy. I would only use them in an area that humans don't venture into regularly. They emit higher rads, make you feel sickly and nauseated, not a good thing. The art in the dining room also darkens the room further. The room needs to look bright and clean. The rear room looks dark and creepy, like the Boogy man lives back there. Its an eyesore, and not really utilized. If its not going to be used for something I would hang some curtains over it from the inside to hide it.
One thing I've noticed is that it feels like they need more people, an extra person to serve drinks and keep the warmers on the buffet warmer and the food hydrated with some extra water mixed in regularly. It looks like someone is trying to run the front counter AND do all of that. As a result, I'll serve myself drinks, which is Ok by me, until the soda machine needs maintained or the food gets dry/cold. Maybe they could deal with that language barrier thing by hiring a couple part time native English speakers to split the open hours, that way they could focus on the food and dining room.
They season their food well, I always feel like other places skimp on the sauces. Not this place. You can taste the Hoisin sauce. They seem to be meat eaters, or think we are all meat eaters, because that is a focus on the bar, I feel like they could save a few dollars by blending in more vegetables, maybe keep it 50/50. They also could upgrade their salad with a few extra vegetables, make it more appetizing. If something is not eaten, perhaps replace it or omit it, especially if it is costly.
If they wanted to, they could change their floors and walls, emphasizing a clean and well lit room, a mild renovation. New always attracts new. Hire a cashier, keep the take out good, and add a bit more time to the warmers and dining area service. Other than the few critiques I've mentioned I really like the place and the people and will continue to order from there. I'm happy to have them nearby.
Also, The buffet needed serviced this past year and shut them down for a week, which hurt their business. Perhaps keeping spare parts on hand would...
Read moreI ordered egg foo young thinking it was the rice noodles with egg and veggies because somewhere else I ordered the name was similar. I explained this to the young man up front repetitively and he was clear he understood and I told him I was specifically craving that because I'm pregnant and he said he understood he asked if I wanted to get that because they served it I explained to him that I just wanted a refund because I couldn't keep my ride waiting he kept insisting that I try it and that it would just be a minute if I wanted to swap out my order and I went back and forth with him for about 5 minutes I even told him they could keep the tip but that I needed the main meal refunded and then I even went on to say I'd keep the sides because he also said that it would just get thrown away I apologized and explained that I didn't want it and that I couldn't wait. I did not feel like keep going back and forth with this man so I ended keeping the meal but I still ended up throwing it out myself, that's $12 down the drain that I couldn't afford to just throw out because I'm pregnant and have a life to take care of. It should have never been a debate! He should jave just returned my money, that's ridiculous! And on top of that the food looked and smelled disgusting If I'm beinh completely honest. I still would like my money back but this is also a fair warning to other's to be cautious ordering from here. And to double check your orders on google to make sure they match what you actually want because the wording can be similar...
Read moreI don't reccomend this place. First, it's dirty. EVERYTHING'S sticky, the tables, chairs, doors, all of it. We arrived at a not-busy time, about 5:45 on a Wednesday. Many of the dishes on the buffet were mostly empty, only about a third to half filled. I tried the mushrooms in brown sauce (okay), potatoes and bacon (pretty good), egg rolls (meh), and the white rice (not fresh) with sweet and sour chicken (awful). The chicken was overcooked or something, very tough and gristley. I got up to refill my drink and the hostess(?) server (?) said "thanks". When she finally wandered over to clear plates, my daughter pointed out my uneaten chicken and informed her "My mom can't eat this, it's too tough". No response, no acknowledgement. All of the food had too much pepper on it. Not garlic, which would have been better. I heard other patrons asking where condiments like hot mustard and soy sauce were. Of the three of us who were there, I was the one who had the biggest problem. The others thought their dishes were okay, although my ex agreed that the chicken was tough. I will not go back, it was that bad that I don't even want to give it a...
