Stopped here for lunch with my family. Never been before. Portion sizes are decent, however the menu is not clear enough. "Fried rice" is not specific and no one said anything about egg being in the food. When it was delivered and the egg was noticed we asked for a sub of pork fried rice. The woman told me "that is what you ordered." No. I was under the impression it was just rice. "Fried rice" We did not know there were eggs in the rice and the menu does not state this. There is an egg allergy in my family. When asked to sub it out, the woman told me, no but she could charge me for a container of pork rice. No thanks. Not for $7.50. We had the meal removed and taken off our bill, but they are not very accommodating for allergies and they need to state there are eggs and shellfish and other such items cooked together or mixed in with other food somewhere on the property or menu. Especially with the rice that comes with the meals. It needs to say "egg fried rice" or "pork fried rice" etc. They also need to offer another soup other than egg drop for the meals. It's either egg drop or no soup, unless you want to pay more to upgrade to another soup, which is not okay. I shouldn't have to pay more for a veggie soup when the cost of soup is included in my meal to start (because all meals come with fried rice, soup, and an egg roll). The woman was very rude to me and even walked off while I was still trying to talk to her about how to possibly fix the food. Will not be back due...
Read moreI've been going to Tai Pan for 22 years, until the other evening. This was strike three (in a row) for yucky food that did not agree with me from Tai Pan. Long ago they were making their own sauces, and it was one of the special places to eat in Middlefield. Over time, the sauces are now riddled with sugar, flavorless, and I feel unsure about the freshness of some of the staple items. I had the potstickers, which are pale in comparison to when Sammy Lam was closely overseeing the food quality (haven't seen Sammy around in quite some time). Also had the Double Pleasure, and could feel something was awry right at the beginning of the meal. ( I hope there isn't anything really wrong with the waiter besides absolute laziness, but he doesn't pick up his feet when walking, and the only sounds in the restaurant are his feet shuffling from place to place. I asked to take the rest of my meal home, and the waiter pushed my meal into the carryout box as though it was trash (which, in effect, it was). After waiting around, not getting the bill, I left some cash at the table and started to leave when the hostess reminded me about my left over 'food'. My response "I don't want it". Then I had the trots for the next day and a half, no appetite, and was more miserable than when I tried to eat the 'food'. Sammy, where are you?...
