Upsold us bagels from the grocery store down the road. Full story below:
My wife had ordered a dozen bagels from here ahead of time, first thing in the morning. When she went to pick them later in the day, they said that they did not have the order ready yet and to come back. When we did come back, they again said that they would need time to work on the order and told us have a seat.
While we were waiting, one of their employees conspicuously went out the back door and came back after about 20 minutes. They then brought us a bag with a dozen bagels, claiming our order fulfilled.
When we went to look at the bagels, they looked very similar to the bagels from the Giant in the same shopping center. To verify, I went to Giant and compared the ones that we got with the grocery store bagels, and they were identical.
When confronted about this, the employee initially tried to deny it saying that they source their bagels from a local place. When provided with a photo showing the identical bagels from the grocery store, he backtracked and said that sometimes they source their bagels from Giant, and presented this to me as doing me a favor. This was despite charging me their usual price, which was far more than what Giant was selling bagels for. Most upsettingly, this was extremely deceptive and dishonest and would not have been admitted without my investigating. To make things right, I told them that I wanted the bagels that we should have gotten when we called ahead of time, as well as a refund. They ultimately complied with this, but were extremely rude and then told me to never come back. I would not recommend this place to anyone: this could have all been avoided if they had either fulfilled the order in the first place or had been honest instead of trying to charge me three times the price for grocery...
Read moreI must say that this place has gone majorly downhill over the last two years, there must have been a change of ownership? I recently took my family for my Mother-Inlaws Birthday lunch a week ago. I should have walked out when we sat down and I saw their outrageous menu prices. I wound up spending over $100 without tip on cold lunch items and 4 soda's for our party of 4. As an example for my entree I ordered the "corned beef special" (Oh it was special alright, haha) it consisted of two tiny slices of stale rye bread, a coleslaw thinly spread like a condiment and corned beef layed in the center of bread all for $15. They really want you to spend "$29" for their stuffed corned beef special (Seriously $29 for a cold sandwich?) Practically every item is way overpriced on their menu and every additional minor request seems to be a $1 or $2 upcharge. Look at other "recent google reviews" and you will see for yourself that this "Diner" has gotten away from decent portions, quality and fair pricing. If I am going to spend the kind of money Moish & Itzy's charge for lunch I would go to a New Hope or Lambertville and dine at a restaurant with a nice ambience and high quality food served on classy plateware for about the same cost. I know this will be the last time our family will eat at this overpriced diner, as there are so many quality restaurants in the area that provide a much nicer setting and better quality food...
Read moreHaven't been here in a while for dining in, and it's not as good as it used to be. At least not this time.
They had problems with the order printer, which I get. But the food was still very slow to come after it took them 20 minutes to figure out orders weren't being printed. On top of that, it was like brain surgery trying to get the salad dressing my wife had ordered with her meal. The first time we asked for it, we got a small cup of oil. That's not exactly true, since we asked for the dressing when it didn't show initially. So maybe that counts as second time. We then asked for vinegar, so we might make something of it. Got a small cup of vinegar. We tried to make do, but there was so much we couldn't even mix them properly.
The salad it was intended for was from the healthy choice list, and went for $16. It was sliced turkey, sliced tomato, sliced cucumber, and romaine. It might have been a healthier choice, but it certainly wasn't a financially sound one.
My turkey Reuben was solid, but the side of potato salad was paltry - even if it was tasty. My son's Caesar salad was properly good, though. Big, too. His mushroom barley soup was also good (it's one of the best things they offer).
But overall, it was a poor choice for dinner. My wife couldn't wait to get out. Sadly, it will probably be removed from our "list" for future dinners, though we'll still get the mushroom barley...
