Oriental gourmet — Restaurant in Middletown Township

Okay, so the service, cleanliness of the place, how easy orders are to pick up, anything and everything that doesn’t have to do with the food itself, I would give it 4 whole stars. The place was cute, clean, and cozy, but not everything is super organized. However, the food itself really only deserves 1. It wasn’t offensive, but it really wasn’t good. Compared to competition around the area, I would rank this place toward the bottom.

I got the sweet and sour chicken lunch special. It was fresh when I got it, but the taste of the food is nothing to rave about; it’s on the bland side. Also, the portion size is a lot smaller than every other Chinese takeout place I’ve visited in the Monmouth area, but it was still filling. I just don’t feel like the food reflected the price. The fried rice is extremely greasy, which is really all there is to expect from Chinese food, but I kid you not, the oil was literally pooling at the bottom. To add insult to injury, I only received 2 sheets of the thinnest napkins possible to wipe my face with.

So in short, I would much rather go to another place if I prioritize the taste and value of the food.

Edit: Also, don’t even think about getting the sweet and sour chicken. It was mostly batter; the only thing you can really taste is the oil; the chicken comes separate from the sauce, thank God, because I’m convinced they just took those schmuckers strawberry jam packets and added water, soy, and a little...

I was recently craving some Chinese food. Went to this restaurant near me and I got the pad thai, white meat General Tsos chicken, chicken with broccoli, and dumplings. Everything was so good! There was so much flavor in the pad thai and it had the perfect level of spice. The General Tsos chicken was very good and juicy. The chicken with broccoli was very flavorful and the sauce was amazing. The dumplings were great. They had lots of meat in it and the skin was great and it was juicy. I definitely recommend, worth the price. Another thing I loved about this price was the people and staff. They were super friendly and helpful with me. I had some questions about the pad thai and they helped me a lot. 10/10 experience...

i don't know how this place has 4 stars, i didn't even want to give it one. The guy who answered the phone was rude. It took forever to get my food ( he was rude when he dropped it off too) I ordered a shrimp lunch special and there were about 3 shrimps in there, it was not spicy like i was told.
