J & J Pizzeria and Grille — Restaurant in Middletown

$30 for a medium pizza, jalapeño poppers, and two sodas would’ve been better spent setting it on fire honestly. I’m not sure how people enjoy this place. Smallest medium I’ve ever seen, quite literally equivalent to a small anywhere else, cut into six oversized slices that can barely keep the cheese and toppings on them while simultaneously being almost burnt (and partially was,in some spots) on the bottom. Jalapeño poppers are a joke, soggy and no amount of spice or jalapeño flavor whatsoever; I’d venture to guess they’re frozen and not made in house. The girl who took my order must’ve been having a bad day because she was pretty short with me and somewhat rude. I went in knowing my order and had barely finished speaking the first item before she cut me off to ask “is that all,” yet needed me to repeat my pizza toppings four times. Some of the bacon on our pizza was cooked so hard I had to spit it out. I’d rather drive further for food thats actually good and not just barely edible. We ate our share and got rid of...

Ordered $50 food was double charged for lettuce & tomato even though it comes on the hoagie steak sub. I asked for it on the side because the lettuce gets wet and soggy on the hot sub. Got a very tiny amount for double charging. Mgr was nasty after asking about it, made the comment walking away “I don’t want to hear it”. Made me so mad after spending so much more for him to say I don’t want to hear it. I refused to take the $1.50 back. Let him keep it because I will NEVER go back. I’m a constant customer and I hope it was worth it. It will not let me upload pictures of the tiny lettuce and tomato and receipt. The cashier was the only nice person. I feel bad she always made me feel welcomed. The manager really needs to learn, you can’t talk to customers like that and expect them to be all happy. I grew up in Middletown and loved the pizza, food and staff. Sadly all of this is no longer true.

2019* Had to take a star away tonight* a lil disappointing experience tonight. They forgot we were there dining in and let our pizza sit and get cold at the counter for 45mi.

2020** I haven't come in a year since my last horrible experience. Came in for takeout tonight, It is still horrible. Waited an hour to pick up my 20 minute order. Watched as folks called in to order and then come to pick it up AS I WAITED FOR 1 PIZZA!. This operation is a complete mess, no organization or process in place. It is a shame because it used to be so great. I guess I will continue to drive to Harrisburg to get good pizza and service. Please avoid this place if you are in a hurry or looking for a good...
