Tokyo1 — Restaurant in Midland

My husband and I stopped by here on their grand opening, August 29, 2021!

The staff is enthusiastic and friendly, this is a family owned restaurant and I think their first venture. They're eager to learn and be one of the top restaurants in Midland, so come by and give them a chance.

Because this is the grand opening, menu options are currently limited. My husband and I both got Egg rolls and Teriyaki Chicken lunch items. The lunch comes with soup, fried vegetables, and fried rice.

I included a picture of my meal! The food is very fresh, and made from scratch in the back. You can hear it being made. The chicken even seems to be hand cut to carefully trim away fat and cartilage (which I personally appreciate).

They use a long grained rice for the fried rice which really absorbs the flavor of the sauces used. The soup we got was a fresh green onion/cilantro soup, really unique. I never had anything like it.

I really appreciate how healthy and crisp the food was. It didn't feel like it was weighed down with grease, but still had a lot of good flavor.

We really enjoyed Tokyo 1 in Midland. Being out in West Texas, you wouldn’t think an Asian fusion restaurant, let alone sushi would be on the top of the restaurant lists to hit. Tokyo 1 is very much an example to the contrary. Very traditional in the “strip mall” style Asian restaurants, the décor and dining area is welcoming. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They were quick to make recommendations and pairings of beverages, rolls, bowls and appetizers. The owners were very friendly and we really enjoyed that they came by to tell us about their restaurant, menu, and history. The menu is extensive and is guaranteed to satisfy anyone with a craving for Asian inspired fare. We sampled a broad spectrum of offerings from the chicken fried rice, the hot stone bowl BiBim Bap, and I personally sampled a tempura roll called the King Kong. Though the prices of the rolls may seem a little higher, the attention to detail and expanse of fresh ingredients certainly provide a great value for the money. Look OUT Midland Sushi scene!!! A new restaurant that throws a high and inside fastball is now here!

The owner hails from California in the heart of sushi country. They are new to Midland and excited to be here!

They have some dynamite Korean items on the menu as well as FRESH sushi! You will love this place.

Next time I’m going to try the beef yakisoba… this visit was all about the sushi.
